    Lightbulb Flame Board

I have seen some threads go up in flames, and moderators close them, it really isn't nice, because you always want to have your say on the flame-war, but you can't when it's closed. I think we should have a Flame Board, where all the threads that would normaly be closed go there, that way members can fight their way out, while the sanitary people can have a peacfull discussion on the rest of the board. And everybodys happy, waddua think?

Isn't it better to finish your argument (or intense discussion) by P.M.? Seems rather ego-driven that one would need to publically stomp on someone just to claim victory.

What benefits would be drawn from it? No. They are closed cause they're not going anywhere.

That sounds like a lot of work for the moderators if the thread has topical stuff along with the flames. Then they have to cut out the flames and move them to the flame board or the topical stuff will get lost.

That's the point of closing them: to stop the mindless flaming and trolling opinion.

"Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

I thought it was so they get scoot off the page, then the next, into nothing, seeing how they aren't helping anyone.

No that's not it at all; it's just as they've told you. I've an idea to make something that will let members lower threads they don't like on the thread list so that more interesting stuff can stay at the top, but no one seems to like it.

Nope. Reasons pointed out by others already.
I wouldn't mind something a little different though, like a read-only repository of "how not to talk on cboard". I'm guessing this would bloat the forum from the point of view of the (wonderful ) people who keep it running, though.

I think a Java board has a better chance and would fit in better.

Flame boards sour up the communities that create them. A Java board would make more sense; I mean, you've got a C# board already, and that has nothing to do with the topic of "C programming." Unless you like to categorize languages by the first letter of their name :-)

    This one:
    Some interesting words.

Don't worry WALL*MART, I'm not refering to you...
    Wtf is that about?

There I named two, make it three, if you include this thread.
