    Ediot:

From now on, on the forums I post on, any edits I make in a post to reply to an idiot I shall dub as an EDIOT. Think it'll catch on? I don't think people will figure it out and will just dub me as illiterate. Oh well, I'll do it anyway. Something like:

EDIOT: *Some facts here, etc, etc*

I came up with this when messing around with Yahoo! Answer which has the most despicable tech forum I've ever seen. Seriously... people have no idea what they're talking about over there.

I'd only do it in places where they don't mind. Obviously around here, I'd never directly call someone an idiot, no matter how much they deserve it.

Sometimes the truth is derogatory but it is still the truth.

Would you consider it ethical to throw an EDIOT in the post even if it's not an edit and the person is simply an idiot? I like the idea though! Might take it on board myself if you have no copyright issues.

    Warning Sly!!!

Some of the newbies to the baord may take offence to that statement if you begin doing that. I personally propose you do two things:

1 If it is a board member who regually posts on the board with a user name you reconise, and the mistake is blaintant, then by all means go ahead.

2 If on the other hand, it is a total noob who is error proun, then be nice. We were all noobs once, and some noobs may be quite sensitive in this repspect. Programming as you well know is not easy, and the last thing you want to do is drive people away from the board

#3 Personal note: I think its a good idea overall mind.

Hmm... isn't it just easier to call things by their names instead of inventing some new sort of inside joke only an handful will understand or giggle or even care?

If it's facts someone is missing, you call it fact. If it is an idiot you want to call them, you call them an idiot.

The line between idiot and inexperienced is not that thin, swgh. I know the difference as I believe anyone with enough experience on a subject should.

As for Mario's suggestion... I like making up words. Especially for idiots. Because at some point down the line, they're going to get it, and they're going to be very upset...

I think you see only the posts... So you should apprise only the posts, not the author...
