I don't smoke, and I'm not really bothered by others smoking. If I go to a bar or nightclub, I accept that my clothes will probably smell like smoke when I come out. Of all the things floating around in the air these days, second hand smoke doesn't exactly frighten me.

Wow, that's great, pals! Nearly 75% non-smokers! Congratulations!

I guess the majority of votes came from US. Americans are health-fans, which is good. Australians are even more health-phanatic (let me know if I'm wrong!). What If I'd perform this test on the old continent - e.g. in France ... well

I was in Paris once, walking all night long through the city, and every half an hour somebody asked me for cigarettes!

As I told you, in Hungary there are many smokers as well.
But at our company are only about 3-4 smokers from 120 men! Not bad. Unfortunately, one of my bureaux colleagues is a smoker. He gets out from time to time, and comes back with a really smelly breath - you probably know what I mean . It's kinda aura around him.

    Just thought this was funny:

    >Smoke doesn't truely 'cause' cancer:
    and then...
    >Smoke couses cancer by killing your lungs... and they have to recover.

Anyways, I'll have to say I'm with Deckard on this one - I don't, but it doesn't really bother me.

English language is meant to play with it, isn't it?

Cancer is caused by the decay of cells... they have to renerate faster and faster, and begin to make 'mistakes', or defects begin to form in new cells.
minime6696, you mean here gene alteration in cells?
This slow process can be sped up by some risiko factors like radiation, chemicals etc.

Although, some smokers live long, and don't die in cancer. And viceversa, there are really young people dying from cancer. Of course, smoking is not healthy.

But we could also blame factories, machine industry, nuclear tests etc. for these injuries.

When you start your car or sit in front of your monitor for hours - isn't it a crime, too?

We are ........ing in our own "aquarium", and nobody will clean it...

did you know they also emit radiation and a heavy smoker is subjected to an equivalent radiation dose of 200 chest x rays per year.

they contain the chemicals that make up household bleach and lots of other stuff - i can post the ingredients list if you like

-after reading the article (source of this info) i really want to quit now.

i dont smoke, and i don't care about the health risks(still a teenager). i'm concerned that some of the biggest companies in america sell addictive products(which happen to kill people), and that people continue to buy them. they have every right to, but still...

    >>Australians are even more health-phanatic

We are constantly bombarded by heath msg's from the government.
They have worked out it is cheaper to scare us into not doing all these harmful things (like drinking, smoking, speeding, taking drugs, having a good time, spending our cash, ect) than fixing the health system.

We have very active fun police.

We have ad's on TV of cigarettes that have fishing hooks in them, lungs being wrung out of tar, people having a few drinks then being killed in a car accident. Pleasant family stuff.
