Same here...I make coughing noises, shoot dirty looks, sometimes moan loudly about how hard it is to breathe all of a sudden, yell "What's that smell!" in the person's general direction...I'm a pretty big jerk when people are smoking TOBACCO around me...with weed I really could care less for some reason.

    I'm afraid I'm rather conservative.
Whether it's tabacco or weed my reaction's the same.

I went to a state run school for a few years and there were students coming into my classes that just weren't with it. The park opposite the school was rife with smoke during all breaks, the majority of it not tabacco smoke. Yuk!

I'm far happier in colllege now where I don't have to be anywhere near anyone who smokes and the discipline is far better as noone is permitted to smoke on campus otherwise the dean jumps up and down and shakes his fists which is quite a sight I can tell you!

Stoned_Coder, we will be happy if you change the avatar of a smoking man.

I do not smoke, and actually I don?t like much smokers. I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

    >>I tend to limit myself going to nightclubs because I come home stinking of cigarette smoke

No smoking at all in all public buildings, clubs and bars here. Even some open areas smoking is banned.

Can in bars and clubs if have very, very powerful / expensive airconditioning. Not many do.

I have asthma and I hate it when people smoke around me.

I've just heard that here, in Hungary , a so-called "smoke-commando" will operate soon.

They will check the institutions, whether they have separate space for smokers, and if any problem found, serious penalty has to be paid.

Starting this year, cigarette advertisement is also prohibited.

I understand very well, why our government had to take such severe dispositions. In Budapest you can see many smokers, also women. We really have so beatiful ladies around here, but I think it's disgusting when a lady is smoking.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but once I had such a girlfriend -kissing her was like kissing an ashtray ;°)) ;°((.

I have a "healthy" life, it means that I don't smoke,
but I drink a LOT of battery every weak.

That's a fair arguement... so long as it's nowhere near me.

Smoking is one of the few things I can't stand, so I'm much like Pendragon in this respect. I should be able to enter a school bathroom without having to come out smelling like cigarette smoke. Most smokers have little, if any, consideration for nonsmokers; most don't even notice how much they reek of the stuff. I agree with Carlos that smoking makes a girl much less attractive. One thing I can't stand is that most restaurants, other than fast-food restaurants, permit smoking in certain "designated" areas; the smoke still reaches the nonsmoking areas!

Smokers sure do have this right; but, at the same time, they must respect nonsmokers' rights by not smoking where nonsmokers are. If it were up to me, smoking would be banned from sit-down restaurants and almost everywhere except for private property. Extreme? Yes. Necessary? I think so.

Correct, in a way. But its more like:

    - I have the right to breath anything i want.
    - I have the right to not be forced to do so.

When people smoke around me without asking my permission, they are violating my rights. I dont wander around town grabbing people cigarettes out of their mouths do I? (No, I dont. ) So why should people be effectivly doing to opposite to me? Thats right. They shouldn't.

I'm all for anybodies right to do anything they want so long as it doesnt infringe on anybody elses rights to do what they want as well.

I never force people to smoke with me through second hand smoke. It's really not polite. If at a friends house(non-smoker) or something of course I go outside. In public I always get a good distance from people so it doesn't bother them. Especially children. That's wrong when you are sitting in a park or something blowing smoke on a new born. I have seen that ....that makes me want to smack people.

I just can't stand these anti-smokers that go out of their way to say something to you about it. I have friends that would say something about, if I was on the other side of a football field. They are always complaining about me smoking not because of the smoke bothering them, but because of the fact that I smoke. That can be just as rude as a smoker who doesn't take other people into consideration.

Of course I know my friends are just concerned about my health though.

Question Just a bit of info! :)

Just a bit of info on smoking, in case some peeps didn't know:

1.) Smoke doesn't truely 'cause' cancer:

Cancer is caused by the decay of cells... they have to renerate faster and faster, and begin to make 'mistakes', or defects begin to forn in new cells. Even tapping your hand once a second for a year will increase risk of cancer.

Smoke couses cancer by killing your lungs... and they have to recover.

2.) Ciggarretts are so toxic, if they were divided into subsequent chemicals they would not be allowed into a dump! Or even chical waiste dump for that matter!

Theres lots more... but I just thought thats wut I would throw in.

i completely detest smoking - and am all for it being banned in restaurants etc etc. Currently i eat out about 4 times a week and have had to move tables on any number of occasions because smoke from a smoking section comes into non smoking (how restaurants think a neck high lattice is going to keep smoke on the smoking side i dont know). i have a very sensitive sense of smell so find tobacco smoke very offensive as well as having a very bad case of asthma.
