    maxorator,
Does your cat's name have anything to do with your user name?

He's heavy enough that it feels like he must be sometimes.
I think I feed him too much sometimes, but he never likes dieting.

I don't feed my cat as you do. I give him a big portion of food and when his food dish is empty, I put a new portion. It takes about a week for him to eat one "portion".

Heh... you probably feed you cat exactly the same as he does. The only difference between your cat and his and my cat is while your cat takes a week to finish a bowl... ours takes about 2 minutes.

My cat finishes it's food like a human. You serve the cat, it eats it in a couple of minutes and goes away. However, if you give it more, it will just eat more. I usually feed my cat twice a day unless it whines to me, which she usually does.

See, I was always told that cats are smart, and they won't overeat.

From my experience with my cat though, if you give him too much food he'll just stuff himself.

And then go lie down in the sun to sleep, rather than working off all that food.

Cats like dogs have the instinct to eat when given the oppertunity because they don't know when they may get more food or when the current food will go away. They eat to store nutrients and if they can get excess nutrients they take it. That's why you're supposed to keep boxs/bags of dog and cat food out of your pets reach because if they get to it they'll just eat it until they die. Cats are better at that, though, and will likely stop when they feel full.

My cat doesn't eat too much. And he's spending all nights outside catching little insects and other living things that are smaller than him.
