    The end of DevC++??

I have heard that the latest version of DevC++ (4.992) is the final version that bloodshed software are creating, Is this true?
I think they are going to concentrate more on code::blocks. I love Dev, and have 4.992 version as i use it for toy programs. It is quick and easy to use and unlike code::blocks you do not have to create a new project from scratch to create a 1 source file program. Does anyone know any more on this?

Since you're not actually asking for technical advice, GD seems a more appropriate context for this discussion. Moved.

    edit:

As far as I know development has stalled. There's presumably more information to be had on dev-cpp's sourceforge page.

well this is what happened (afaik, iirc, etc):

the bloodshed team moved on to bigger and better things, leaving Dev-C++ mostly dead, but there were (are) still a few coders working on it slowly

for the most part, the project's dead (and has been for quite a while), but even so, Dev-C++ is still the top windows IDE IMO. At least until the new standards come out... in which case, if Dev-C++ can't keep up with them, we'll all have to find something new (maybe code::blocks?)

I think you mean delphi, assuming 'it' refers to dev-cpp.

It is written in Pascal (almost the same as Delphi).

It's written in Delphi. Not Pascal, not Python.

And Delphi is not almost the same as Pascal. Unless you refer to the very early Object Pascal versions. Delphi is a far shot from those times.

I present this for the masses... keep in mind that even after that post, over a year later, still no new version.
and I just realized cprog is the first website in their list of C/C++ resources
(other than gamecoding, but most visitors to bloodshed's site probably can't use that anyway)

There's also the Tracker at SF., which seems to indicate the project is basically dead.
    http://sourceforge.net/project/stats...k&type=tracker

It is still a good editor for small projects, I reckon. Simple to use, lightweight. It's the debugger integration that always threw me off though.

Meanwhile wxDev-C++ is an alternative. However, it seemed to have also stopped on its tracks the beginning of this year.

Code::Blocks with its constant development seems to be a much better option these days. The debugger integration alone justifies the change.

I switched form the devcpp ide to the codeblocks ide. I like codeblocks a whole lot better but it took me a while to get used it and get it configured.
