Which will come first -- Windows Vista or Mac OS X Leopard

Come on, we all have our opinions . With Leopard sneak-peaks coming out, and Vista already around the bend, the race is on! Which do you want more, and which features do you want in either operating system?

Leopard definitely. Without WinFS, Vista became just candy on a stick. I pass.

Can't wait for my first Mac laptop after having played for a week with a MacBook Pro 17'' from a friend of mine.

Vista is due in January as long as nothing sets it back farther. Spring 2006 for Leopard could indicate a couple months later or so.

Leopard does look nice I'll give it that, but Vista strikes me as being more of an update to the actual OS. As far as I can tell with the screenshots, Leopard seems to be mostly updates to the system software. That's nice and all, but I typically don't use the system's default software. For browsing I use Firefox, for word processing I use Open Office, etc.

I voted for the non vista option, silpmy cause there are going to be more delays in vista, and I think my own OS will come out first.

The real question is, How long will it be before the first virus / piece of spyware comes out having "Designed for Windows Vista" written all over it ?
I think you can put a signature here.

I read an article where MS hosts a security convention type thing where they invite people to hack vista to better improve security.

As long as there are hackers, they will hack...it's nothing new.

They did and a nice hacker lady found a way to completely bypass the new security layer which prevents unsigned code from running. *oops*

Looking forward to leopard, I read an article that predicts apple will wait to release it around the same time as Vista.

It's surprising that Apple wouldn't release it like in November or something, for the Christmas season, and just before Vista. Although I think for the most part, there are three categories of people, those that know they're going to buy Apple, those that know they will buy Vista, and those that think their current computer is good enough. Which reminds me, I ran across this guy who had a windows 95 in his house the other day. That was his only computer. Bizarre.

My current laptop can't run Vista.

500Mb RAM, PIII 1000. The only fast thing it has is a Xeon Intel Inside sticker I found laying around at my former workplace.

Problem is, do I really need Vista? From all I saw I don't. There is nothing it offers than can be of any use to me (from the perspective of a home user playing online war games and coding in C++). I don't even need Windows XP for all that is worth. My laptop runs windows 2000 much faster than it does windows XP with a much less memory footprint. 500Mb of RAM is more than enough to make me happy with Windows 2000. And a Pentium III 1000 is a racing car under this OS.

Software is what drives me to buy a new computer. Not the OS. And since I'm not much of a game crazed guy, I'm perfectly happy the way I am. Usually my laptops have an estimated useful life of 5 years. Confessedly, mine is becoming old. But again... why bother? Windows developments in OS for the past 5 years have not impressed me. Windows 2000 was an impressive and great move. Windows XP was... boring. Windows Vista looks... boring.

Reminds me of my phone which has a p4, XP and an apple (as in the fruit, not the computer maker/brand), sticker on it.

In Iran there is no apple at all. 99.9% of users use Windows.
Vista has some new technologies that are hidden to users and are for develorpers. MS has build a new 3D UI to fool people with it.
And there is a WinFS that is supposed to help people managing their file.

Didn't WinFS get canned with regards to this release?
