Does anybody else find this mindblowing? Even more staggering is that this is one of only 90+ cities in China with populations over one million. Most of them are also experiencing hyer-rapid growth.

Many other cities in the developing world are now also starting to experience rapid growth. Exciting times.

Hehe... this city reminds me of Sim City. Maybe it's because so many buildings look like duplicates of each other. This is more noticeable in the last link. but it seriously looks like some guy was playing Sim City for too long, took a screenshot and said, "Let's build it!" They even went as far as to build their own eiffel tower, which is available in Sim City 2000.

I've heard someone say that the majority of tower cranes in the world are set up in China right now. Would not be surprised if that was true.

    >>10 billion people that live in China.

Wow, they must have left a few people out when they determined the
population of the world at 6.5 billionish...

    >> I suspect wizards.
The Ministry of Magic I suppose. They're all over the shop in the fourth Harry Potter book making things. Was going to quote it, but I thought I'd loose some of the precious respect points I have gained from my precious knowledge if I did!

    >> the other 3.5 billion were out late the night before.
    10,000,000,000 is ten billion, right?
Can most int variables hold that
    number? Wouldn't a double be
    better? Though, then people would
have 2.4 children and whatnot, and
it would get confusing, so an integer
type cast double would be best ...
    Perhaps

I really feel like saying something at this point because I fear we are loosing track here:

Harry Potter doesn't have a clue about magic. He's a spoiled brat that always gets the best gifts. Best wand, best broom, best cloak, best father. I hate him!

But no matter how much great stuff he has...There is no "best" owl. Not even a good owl. Peregrine falcons > owls.

Plus he's special friends with hermionnie, who's a real hard working wizard.

It appears that I quoted someone who has stepped out himself - Banned? Hope so...

    UPDATE:
Board search reveals no user by that name, his last thread is MIA, as are all posts -
    bye bye troll!!!

Yes those pics are excellent, the modern world rocks! People can build some pretty cool
stuff these days. I bet one feels so insignificant living in a city that size - the capital of
Ireland (Dublin) is only about 1 million, and I don't live there either - it's like a foreign
country - people's republic of cork!!!

[SorryRichie]Yeah, there seems to be a post missing between 5 and 7, and also 11 and 13 ... weird I never knew that happened for a banning.

    >> as are all posts - bye bye troll!!!
Kinda harsh, but maybe it's just a small ban. Did anyone see the two threads he got deleted before he stopped, or got banned?

Dude, he lives in England! And it's possible, some have rumoured, that he's fictitious ... All the book characters get the best things[/SorryRichie]

    Yeah, they really are.
    How long did you say
    it took for that? 25
    Years? There must
    have been some
    kinda magical*
    boom there for that
    amount of
    development to
    even be considered!!

Whose with me so that we post in iambic pentameter instead of word wrapping?

Perhaps harsh, perhaps not. What makes some people waste other people's time by being rude has always been something I had trouble understanding. But maybe I'm gay.

I think perhaps a long line of inconsequent posts, disrespect for moderators and fellow posters, and otherwise constant bad behavior, has earned him the ban flag. I for one will not miss him. He will return though... they always do untill whatever kicks them into behaving like this stops being so appealing. This usually happens when they grow up. It does.

Not certain about the bannings, but I have seen posts by people marked as "Banned Member" ... the other day I saw one by someone called "maes" and I'm fairly certain it said "Banned Member" beneath his name. Maybe the member you referred to has requested his posts be removed? Would such requests be honoured here?

    But back to the topic

This seems to be fairly typical in China these days. In 2002 I visited Hainan Island, a tropical island politically in the PRC just off Hong Kong, and I went back there in 2004.

The main city, Haikou, had changed noticeably in that two years alone.

But it does vary. Sanya in the south of the island looked pretty much the same. Sanya is a much poorer city than Haikou though.
I think you can put a signature here.
