    Amazon a premier site for book orders

    Many of us order books like they are going out of style, or at least I do. With all of the internet scams and identity theft going on it's hard to find a place to trust.

    I must say that I'm highly impressed with amazon and those who sell their books on the site. I've been ordering books from them since 2004 and have 30+ in my collection from their various vendors.

    One of my books had a cracked CD which was replaced but that is the only issue I've ever had. My books always arrive promptly and in the condition stated (or better).

    One time I thought I did not receive one of my books and it was very simple to report this. They sent an email back stating the book had been shipped and the seller also contacted me to resolve the issue. Well I found the book right in front of my face and we all had a few laughs and it was over.

    If you are looking to purchase books I cannot recommend amazon.com highly enough. It is an excellent site with excellent service. Make sure you check the book seller's ratings before ordering as this will ensure a trouble-free order, but I've never had any major issues.

    Only place I've purchased my books (save one) from (looks like I have around 20), always have had very quick delivery times and reasonable prices. Never had any problems with the used books I purchased through them before either and probably around 1/3 of my books are used.

    I should note reviews on books have been helpful a number of times too.

    I with amazon / amazon marketplace for pretty much anything I need - books, software etc.

    I ordered a book from a seller "dispatching from the UK". Eventually it turns up in a package with a lot of funny writing on it and what is clearly a Turkish library stamp on the inside cover.

    Amazon's response: "You got the book, didn't you?" Yes, I'm also a big fan of handling stolen goods too.

    Both Amazon and Barnes & Nobles have been my favorite places to buy books online. Never had any problems with them save the occasional delay.

    I always check amazon.ca and chapters.ca before I buy - often if one does not have the 33% discount the other one will. As for buying used books, I have never had any trouble that way either, though I will say that one particular rare computer book was going for $250 in some cases when it probably did not sell for more than $50 new.

    I recently lost $20 through ebay buying books. I'm now waiting for paypal to fix things up.

    Maybe, but they're horrible at Fiona Apple imports. Man, I
    tried to get the "Across the Universe" single 2 different times.
    The website said it was available. After 2 or so months of
    delays, they finally cancelled the order.

    In fact, I'm going to try one more time. They say they have
    2 left in stock. Last time I was trying to purchase a UK import.
    This time they're selling a Japanese import.

    I have gotten several imports from Europe for some of the Power Metal bands that I listen to from Amazon. Along with 2 of my programming books (other 2 I got at local book shops since my family gives me gift cards for books ). Amazon ftw.

    Well that sucks. I have had good experiences with buying
    computer books on Ebay. Nothing like the smell of ink wafting
    from the pages of Low Price Edition titles...

    My experiences have always been good with Amazon as well ... being in the UK it's Amazon.co.uk rather than .com.

    I've ordered a number of items from them, including my digital camera and also stuff for friends. Never had a problem.

    Stuff has always arrived in the condition stated, or better (as someone has already said).

    The only thing that does suck is their delivery charges. On one occasion I wanted to buy a USB lead, and it cost &#163;0.01 with a &#163;4.98 delivery charge. So I thought I'd order two. The bottom line amount? &#163;9.98. The delivery charge had been doubled, desptite the two items being exactly the same, exactly the same order, and the same supplier.

    Although still cheaper than the high street, I decided to get just one in the end.

    I am also satisfied with amazon but I have one advice for e-shopping: always buy the stuff where it's cheapest. Nothing else matters IMO. Use sites for price comparison and buy from the seller with the lowest price. Simple.
