Irony is more effective when you allow others to know you are using it.
When he, and those very few who know him, are the only ones aware he is being ironic, then you are in fact having fun at the expense of others. Doing that stupid little giggling to yourself, you know? Not really being fun to anyone else but yourself and those few that actually do understand what the hell you are talking about. In other words, having fun at the expense of others.
And even more sad, the fact you do it at the expense of some thread that didn't gain anything with the smartarse comments and the childish attitude.
So... no I don't. And I don't feel like I will ever want to know him.
Now, if you excuse me...

That is one of the whiniest comments I've ever read here. Are you really that upset because you don't know ethic well enough to appreciate his posts?
PS Starcraft does, in fact, suck.

No. I don't. You obviously don't know me

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.
I don't like RTS types anyways.

And an excellent job it does, too
P.S. My relationship with starcraft is purely platonic, but in order to remain politically correct, my official stance on this is "uncommitted about the issue", and I must now direct your attention to the large platypus sneaking out your back door with large amounts of jewelry stolen from your wife's bedroom.

was on AOL; age 16 or so. We would meet in some special chatroom
and arrange games there. I think Age of Empires was the first game
I ever played online, so I was very excited for every game..
Then, after only a couple months of owning the game, Starcraft was
released and suddently AOE wasn't cool anymore. I definitely
couldn't afford to buy a new game. I grew up in poverty, man. It
sucked.
Almost overnight my social life went from active and exciting to
practically non-existant. I still haven't recovered. There was a
glimmer of hope back in November, 2004 when World of Warcraft
was released. But nope. Dumb me chose to play as a Female Night
Elf Druid.
Nobody got to know the *real* me. And for some reason I was
unable to admit to being a boy. To this day, they all still think I'm a
super-cool girl in real life. In fact, it was only a few days ago that
someone wrote on the Bloodscalp (the realm I played on) forums
that I was hot. Yeah, like sexy. And I was. That's what's sad.
There's a screenie over at EntropySink, I think, that even shows
someone hitting on me. They're saying I look cute or something.
And I could totally see that, too. I *was* adorable. I totally got into
the character and actually started acting like a girl. I would always
say "OMG" in guildchat, or make these little guys when something
surprising happend:
:O
OMG!
So, while I was admired by a lot of people, it wasn't really *me*
they loved.
Oh, and Diablo did blow. Diablo II also.

Are you doing that giggling now? You know, that giggling people do to themselves when they think they said something really funny? Just wondering... I think you are super cool

Ethic, I sympathise with you, but that's a really funny story. I've gotta admit I laughed when I read it.
Oh, I don't use AIM anymore. But I'm always on MSN.Originally Posted by Govtcheez

yep, I pester ethic on msn every once in a while we share a few beers - ethic even shed tears a few times - but I'm not supposed to tlak about that.
And Mario - he really is serious dude - hence my comment to visit ES I swear, I enjoy reading ethic's posts the most - with GC being a close second.
And starcraft rocked!!! I loved that game - even single player. AOE I sucked. II was excellent.
Does anyone here remember this game called "saga, rage of the vikings" (or at least something like that)?

The only fun I had with online RTS types was with C&C Red Alert. but that's probably because I'm not much into these types of games. I liked this one because it was fast paced, allowed you to create huge arsenal of moving sprites and ... and I tended to win. My buddies were really not very good/fast at it.
Oh... anyone remembers the intro for this game? That cool soundtrack...
However... FPS are another story. Just perfect for online gamming. Bring your friends home and kill them. There's no roleplay, little to no strategy and it's over pretty soon. At which time you can kill and be killed all over again. The simple things in life...
