Thread: How did you rate the Fellowship of the Ring?

I give it a 9. It wasn't perfect, but it was pretty faithful to Tolkein's original vision I felt.

How about you?

a 9 here again - its very good though i keep thinking there is just one thing lacking from it though i cant put my finger on what it is... (i think it was lothlorien and galadriel - it didnt feel exactly right)

As a movie 10. As a version of the book hmm.. perhaps six or seven. It's obvious that you can't fit that book in to screen with a reasonable lenght, but LoTR is very holistic story and cutting away things like Tom is like amputating a leg.

But wasn't it a BIT too much about action?

9 here too. I saw it twice in the first week. I would go see it again if any of my friends wanted to... (almost all of them already have, and most of them with me! )

One part I thought was cheesy... when the elven sorceress (can't remember her name) was tempted by the ring.

I only read the first three quarters of LOR1 and all of the Hobbit. Funny how the Hobbit breezed through in 3 minutes at the beginning of the movie.

I love it. I need to finish the books before the next release....

I'd have to give it a nine!
I've read the books umpteen times and waited readily for the release of the film. It was brilliantly done and was as I imagined it would be... it just lacked the edge that could make it a 10/10.

Do you mean Galadriel? She's actually not a sorceress, she's an Elven Queen.

Great film, faulty interpretation. The true essence of Tolkien's Middle Earth is really brought to life though. I give it a 9.

In the movie didn't they dropped out that ``where the shadows lie''? I only watch it once and I got the impression they did...

Jeez - I give the lowest rating at an 8?

Yeah - I really liked it, but there were a couple things taht bothered me. Seems like every scene was either someone fondling the ring or crying... Just got a little annoying to me.

I give it an 8.5, I know it was a long movie 3 1/2 hours or something close, but i would have rather it be longer and contain more of the book. I was unhappy to see lothlorien, and how quickly that scene went. They were never blind folded and all the hobbets never looked into the mirror. Also you never saw The Lady Galadriel give the pressents to the Hobbits, only in frodo's memory did she give the Star. i was really dissapointed with lothlorien because that is ment to be the most buitiful village in all of Middle Earth, and they didnt show it to its full importance. Maybe im just too picky or loved the books far to much. There were so many little things that were left out that im still crying over. and Tom, well dont get me started please... I think it would be a better movie for those who havent read the books, however i did love it and i will see it again some time soon.
