    SPAM from Hobbiton ... weird!

So I got this email from people the other day, asking me to buy their cheap drugs (I sometimes read my gmail spam ... I don't know why, but I do. Guess I don't get enought emails but this one get into my inbox ). Anyways, I read this one and below the adverts, which wanted to sell me cheap drugs, I read this:

thirsty too, for they had none too much water, and in all the time they
had seen neither spring nor stream. This was their state when one day
they found their path blocked by a running water. It flowed fast and
strong but not very wide right across the way, and it was black, or
looked it in the gloom. It was well that Beorn had warned them against
it, or they would have drunk from it, whatever its colour, and filled
some of their emptied skins at its bank. As it was they only thought of
how to cross it without wetting themselves in its water. There had been
a bridge of wood across, but it had rotted and fallen leaving only the
broken posts near the bank. Bilbo kneeling on the brink and peering
forward cried: There is a boat against the far bank! Now why couldnt
it have been this side! How far away do you think it is? asked
Thorin, for by now they knew Bilbo had the sharpest eyes among them.

Unless I'm mistaken that's an extract from The Hobbit ... weird.

Are those the ones with the colored backgrounds, I've been getting them like crayz, I think I'm going to complain to my isp, I band them and they still don't go away.

Putting text ( any text ) into a mail will increase the word to picture ratio which is a decision making factor for some spam-filters. So putting in any text copied from whatever was available is a common trick to circumwent easy to fool filters.

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

You completely missed nvoigt's point! This particular company bastardized The Lord of the Rings to circumvent spam filters. That is the only reason it's there.
