Hmm... religion. That's a good excuse for not getting laid enough, right? What was this topic about again? Oh man, Sniper is right. Close this monstrosity.

    OK, enough

edit- wait i thought we voted ethic out
Not gonna happen, nor should it.

I don't see why the thread should be closed. It has spawned 5 conversations, 4 worthwhile:
    1) Discussion of new consoles
    2) PC vs. console debate
    3) Relative importance of artists vs. programmers in game development
    4) Importance of voting, or exercising your right not to
    5) Petty arguing between myself and ethic

On the topic of the last one, I've had enough. There's no point in arguing for the sake of arguing, which is where this is going. We've stopped debating anything worthwhile. You're right - I made an issue over the semantics of Sniper's statement. I took it slightly differently that you did, but that point is moot. It was a petty thing to bring up. As was the thing about living in Wisconsin. There's no point to it.

I'm not sure how you've known me for a long time, as this is, I believe, the first interaction we've had. Let's continue like adults.

I have to agree with govtcheez and ethic on the topic of voting.

Uneducated voting is terrible. It's basing the outcome of the election on sound clips and catch phrases. If you want to vote, please do some research first. Find out what you're really voting for.

Getting all "You need to vote! It's your duty!" is like what I said about your neighbor's garage before. Whether or not someone else votes, and who they voted for if they did, is their business, and theirs alone.

I am not encouraging uneducated voting.
Nor did I encourage anyone to vote for a certain party.
I encouraged ethic to vote because democracies depend on it to work properly, and very few Americans actually spend the time to go do it. I'm sorry, it just that letting someone else make a choice for you, when you have a perfectly good opportunity to make your ideas realised is not freedom in my opinion. I'm sorry my opinion differs from yours. If ethic was being lazy I encouraged him to stop that.

    We can stop bickering now.

yeah except none of that ........ has anything to do with the $600 ps3

do you want to .......... about voting? about which is better consoles or pcs even though both have tons of good games? take it to the thread dealing with that topic

we had a nice conversation going until ethic busted in with his retarded bickering again, stop encouraging him

mods please close this abortion of a thread

The nintendo Wii is rumored to be targeted at $199 - $249 USD. It has wireless motion sensing controlers, integrated web browser (based on Opera), and built-in wifi. Sure its not as computationally powerful as the PS3, but you could buy 3 of them and still have 2 dollers left over for a can of jolt to keep you up all night playing.

I guess the issue here is that while the cell prosessor is definately cool as hell, it doesn't seem neccessary. I guess we'll see.

    edit:
in related news, MS likes the Wii

I would agree with your statements, it will be interesting to see what happens. I think Sony has a nice buffer from their previous control of over 50% (estimated) of the market. I imagine a great deal of revenue will come from brand loyal customers; plus with the release of tools and the installation of linux I think it will expand their horizon to more hackers as well. It will be very interesting to see if they can get developers to harness the technology well enough and to make interesting enough games to pull in other parts of the market.

I would speculate companies will be spending extra as well to get developers to fully utilize all the power the box offers, then again, maybe there will be widely accepted and used free alternatives whose licenses comply with companies needs.

I would doubt it, games have sat around the 50 dollar mark for a long time, computer games have become continually greater work as the power of hardware has increased but it's more damaging economically to increase the price and speculate selling fewer copies than it is to keep the price lower and speculating a greater quantity will be sold.

yeah except there was a recent price increase and sixty dollar games are probably going to be the standard now

    Sticky, plz.

    //edit

Me again. E3 is pretty much over, so I don't need to
argue about video games anymore. There's just one
more reason I want to list as to why the Wii is better than
both the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Virtual Console: Wii will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The Virtual Console also will feature a "best of" selection from Sega Genesis titles and games from the TurboGrafx console (a system jointly developed by NEC and Hudson). It also will be home to new games conceived by indie developers whose creativity is larger than their budgets.

Haha, so their budget is the zero dollars that they have and their creativity is just slightly above that?
