verizon dsl + satellite = no speed?

I recently upgraded to verizon's 3.0Mbps internet connection. Kicked ass. I even more recently got directTV satellite. Since they installed that and did some line work, my internet speed has decreased to a third of what it was before the linework, and has been like that for two weeks...I've tried talking with tech support, but they insist they're giving me the right speed and that what I'm witnessing is 'coincidental' and due to 'internet traffic,' and I hate talking to tech support because they're all asian.

Anybody else ever have a similar problem? If so, what did you do? I'm strongly considering committing mass murder?

I'm not immature, I'm refined in the opposite direction.

If the DirectTV guys touched the wiring of internet and that could be it. One time a contractor hired by comcast set up my internet and it wouldn't connect at all; contacted comcast and a comcast's person measured the signal and found where two cords connected, one of the tip of the cord was bent, so it was not really plugged in to the other cord.

So, get someone from verizon to come down to your house and check.
