    microsoft 3d modeling program?

I'm just curious, so i have to ask. Has microsoft ever released a 3d modeling program? It seems pretty logical to me...
And i assume they haven't, but why the hell not. They have all other leading programming tools...
Although all the Microsoft programs are great, i just hate Word. I can't stand it.

No, they haven't. I don't think Microsoft could compete with 3DS Max.

they could... Althought 3ds Max is great. I have fifth version. It's insanly expansive - that's the only bad thing about 3ds Max.

A 3D modeling app is certainly not a programming tool. If MS made a modeler they'd just screw it up like all of their other software. It would have a bunch of "features" that make it "helpfull" by doing a bunch of crap for you whether you want it to or not.

They haven't screwed up on all their products. In facts i don't see anything horribly wrong with most of their products.

I would never give up VS for any other IDE/Compiler

Microsoft Word comes to mind. They need to patch it so you can torture the paper clip mercilessly.

I don't know why Microsoft would want to make a 3D modelling program. Seeing as how everyone in the game industry uses 3ds max. They would be losing a powerful ally by trying to compete, therefore, everyone would hate Microsoft even more. NO GAMES WOULD BE MADE!

I was under the impression that Maya was dominint in the movie market (most 3d movies are made with it it would appear) and such while 3DS Max seemed more dominint in the game modeling market. Am I completely wrong and making up this trend?

And it is programming tool, since you use models in programs. And you need to know programming to use MaxScript...

Microsoft used to add or currently is adding in the Gmax software in some of their games such as their Flight/Combat Simulator series. Gmax is derived from 3Ds Max but is severely limited to modding games.

I also use textures in programs, so Photoshop is a programming tool. And I use text in programs, so MSWord is also a programming tool. In fact, everything is a programming tool, even this smily

Well in a way, but some things are more and some less. For example Word can't be considered a programming tool since rich text, or html is rerly used in programs or games... but notepad is a god programming tool, or Vim.
