Are you trying to run Win16 / DOS applications?

" Need for Speed Hight Stakes"
    "Flight simulator (microsoft product)"

thanks for your reply, do you know why these dont work?

Hmm...Some programs that I run get that problem on Windows 2000. It might be because it's DOS, Win16, or WindowsXP just doesn't like it. What kind of programs are they? When were they programmed?

Windows XP allows you to run programs in different compatibility modes. If you right click on the executable there should be a tab labeled 'compatibility' and in that tab there are several different options to choose from. That might possibly work. However there might be a patch or what not to run the program successfully on your PC. Are you running Home edition or Professional, and have you formatted your hard drive as NTFS or FAT32?

yes i already tried compatibility modes, and i have also downloaded the latest compatibility patches from microsoft's site. I am runing the NT file system on my computer. hmmm this is really annoying. could this be due to the fact that dos has been rid of? Does anyone know how to fix this? Please? i'm board, i need to play some games. (yes it is worth crying over... :'(

thanks heaps everyone; XXX MERRY CHRISTMAS ! XXX
