nvoigt, read the original question again, then read the answer below, and, the thread is over! The creator of the thread, iain, then changed the topic in his own thread (guns and stuff), and there is nothing that says that changing the topic in your own thread is illegal. Leave people alone, please.

I wanted to keep this a thread on digital cameras. I moved our discussion to a new thread, as a discussion about moderator policies is equally disturbing.

Speaking frankly, this is not a democracy. The webmaster rules and we are his evil henchmen. However, being a tyranny, we still try to listen to our users wishes. After all, we were and still are users, too. Your behaviour is contraproductive to the spirit of this board. This board is about learning, gaining experiences and growing. You refuse to do so. You don't help people. You insult them. You look down on them. Obviously you have some personal problems. You said so yourself. However, your personal problems are not to interfere with other users' experiences of this board.

When in doubt, read the FAQ.
    Then ask a smart question.

Maybe so, but, A) it wasn't your thread, B) the creator of the thread got off-topic himself after his question had been answered. As I see it, the mistake you did is that you assumed that it was thread about digital cameras, when in fact it was 'just' a specific question from an individual wondering about a digital camera (how many pictures a specific camera with a specific memory size can store). It's a generalization from your side. If you want a thread about digital cameras, feel free to start a new one. Just a question: Is it wrong to change the topic direction of the thread when the original question has been answered? Because that's exactly what happened. If you answer "yes", then we're all guilty, I can find a lot of examples.

Speaking frankly, this is not a democracy. The webmaster rules and we are his evil henchmen.
Yes, I said the above because I just wanted you to follow the rules.

Ever thought about becoming a lawyer ?

Is it wrong to change the topic direction of the thread when the original question has been answered?
Not when you do this once. But you tend to draw every thread you participate in into one direction. In this special case even without any hint of helping the poster. I'm not sure if it's your intention, but you do. And this is against the spirit of this board.

I said the above because I just wanted you to follow the rules
Well, I think I do. But you don't have to rely on my opinion. If you see anything you don't like, feel free to report this to all moderators. If you think my action was unfair, you can always report my behaviour and ask the other moderators to have a look.
I am a moderator, but I'm not above the law.

I like to share cool new technologies, ideas, information, etc to this board.

I don't mind giving my opinion from time to time. I expect others to do the same.

I have never seen Series post anything that contributed to discussion.

Like..."Check out this cool website on computer programming." or "Look at this sad/dismal story about a computer geek that was decapitated."

It wouldn't even have to be anything bright and happy. Depression is fine here... attacking isn't.

He needs to show us something interesting instead of attacking every one all the time.

This community isn't built on fighting. It is built on interest, understanding, and a desire to know more about things.

    This isn't killyourself.com or depressed_lets_talk_about_it.com, it is cprogramming.com.

I have noticed that posting has slowed down lately. People just get tired of hearing people like him. It gets old... like a broken record.

    CONTRIBUTE!!!!! Something... anything.

Not seriously. Besides, I hate courts and investigations about people etc. - it's just about people having disgusting personal definitions about other disgusting people's definitions. Generally, the ones that 'lies' best and are most creative are going to win. It's like theater, sort of. I hate life, there are no 'real' rules.

Not when you do this once.
You're not making any sense, I think you need to rethink that part.

But you tend to draw every thread you participate in into one direction. In this special case even without any hint of helping the poster. I'm not sure if it's your intention, but you do. And this is against the spirit of this board.
Understandable. Alright, though I doubt I'm going to change much.

less is more... the words you use are very vindictive in their tact... what would you do in our position? s/he who uses less to accomplish the same goal are wise... [and should become programmers themselves...]

I got a sense that Series X4 1.0 hates everything.

NVoigt: I know that you are the wisest moderator of all, and I'm sorry to have to ask you this (specially because I've recently found out how annoying it is when 7000 people are asking you 7000 different things and you don't know how to democratically solve even one of them (the 7000 is TRUE)), but this is very important to me and I wanted to know what happened!

this is the one, my first comment (after the thread description explains my problem)

I thank you very much NVoigt.

    Yep, nv is right.

I see no problems with the decisions made by the moderators concerning Series X's series of nonserious posts. Ultimately, this website is privately owned, and sophistry has little relevance to my decision making (or the decision making of other moderators). The posting guidelines as well as common courtesy are the generally assumed rules for posting. If you disagree, that's fine, but without well reasoned arguments begun from similar first principles as those used to derrive the original rules, you likely will have little effect.
