    20 years of Usenet.

I don't know if this has been posted yet, I didn't
see anything. If it has, feel free to delete
    this thread..

Anyway, Google just put up a 20 year archive of
usenet. It's very interesting. It includes
the first mention of Microsft, the first mention
of the Commodore Amiga, Torvalds' Linux Announcement,
    and other things, too.

If you're interested, here's the link:

Any mention of the first sighting of the ubiquitous "Make money fast - this really works! Just add your name to the list and send $5...."
Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity unto the dream.

Too bad they didn't list the first post offering up free (pirated)
software to download. I wonder which program it was.

I like the first mention of SW: Episode 6. They
call it "Revenge of the Jedi," and say that it had
just finished filming in Arizona. This is cool.

Return of the Jedi was originally marketed as Revenge of the Jedi (and Revenge of the Jedi posters are rare as anything, and sell for hundreds).

Supposedly, the name was changed to fool people making rip-off merchandise, or something.
