    Question Blocking Advertisements

I know that this annoys more than just me. My website is hosted by Yahoo! and I was wondering if anybody knew somem coding to put in my HTML file that would prevent those ads from popping up on every page! I have the code for Angelfire, but I want to stay on Yahoo! because that's where my email account is. Please help!

    Beautifully put Betazep.

The best things about the internet is the access to so much stuff for free.
The worst thing about the internet is the access to so much stuff for free.

I really wonder where the money comes from. Thats why so may .coms are going under. There is no money. A lot of it is imaginary money, and when it comes time to pay the real employees, they dont take kindly to imaginary paychecks.

The pop-ups are the only ones that annoy me really. Banner ads can be ignored. Popups require effort on my part to terminate the dirty bastards. There is sorftware available to suppress this. I have Proxomitron downloaded just waiting for me to stop being so lazy and install it. Doesnt really help you stop your site from having pop ups tho. Just stops you from seeing them.

I dont know a way to add code and eliminate the popups from the server side.......the code for the popups is merged with your code at the time that a browser makes a request to the server....

You can have programs on the client side which will take care of popups......but I dont think that is what you are after is it

They give away that free space for a reason and that reason is for you to advertise on their behalf........suprisingly they dont give away all that webspace for free......

Ads pay for the site. They don't charge you to host you do they? like Engineer223, no ads = no site.

For the same erason your TV and radio cost nothing. Internet's no diffrent, thus goes capitalism.

Damn true I pay more than enough for this "free service"

In the UK we get 5 chanels and the licence fee we pay only goes towards 2 of them

no, some hosts have no ads on the pages... like f2s (freedom to surf), but apparently they no longer want to recieve any new accounts, cause some of their servers are real busted and the people are complaining alot. but there is another host called portland.uk.co or somthing like that. you can get ad-free hosting from them... for free... it's kinda good. I use it for my cgi application which I plan on putting up onto my site later... but I don't have time, cause I had this stupid stupid ss test about THREE chapters and all the handouts the teacher gave us... oh, I almost killed myself studying...

there are some free channels in Bogota, but I have cable TV, so I actually have to pay for it.

as for the banner thing, I think that they are necessary since you are not paying for the service, and the better the service is, the more banners there are.

The fastest non-corporate websites (hacking, warez and porn) are the ones which have more than 50% of all the banners in the net. have you ever tried to download for example: WinZip's crack? if you don't have a fast computer which can handle more than ten windows at the same time, don't even bother. Warez sites are even WORSE!
