As long as you update regularly, I think bugs'll get fixed a lot faster than they ever were with IE. I still like FireFox.
I just downloaded Opera and installed - I don't like it. You have to pay to have the ad banner removed? Proxy servers that don't even work are on by default? Not a good first impression...
Opera is actually giving away reg codes at the moment for their birthday. But if you switch to text ads it takes up hardly any room. Don't ever remember proxy being on. But all in all I spent more time setting up firefox to be 1/10 of what I like vs setting up opera to be what I want
@sean_mackrory: opera handed out free registration keys because it exists 10 years ... http://my.opera.com/community/party/reg.dml was the link ... but its already down ( there was a thread about it some while ago though )

I use firefox all the time at home -- not allowed to use anything but IE6 at work. I like FireFox and have never encountered a security problem with it, but I don't use any browser for doing online banking or buying. I do my banking the old fashioned way -- with printed checks and the post office.
Opera is dead meat. And all you UNIX fanboys will be in trouble when your "a-patchy" web server and PHP (Pretty Horrible Programming) scripts are destroyed by IE7. That's right. IE7 will actively refuse pages that end with a .php extension or originate from an apache server. It will also detect Firefox and uninstall it on startup. Why? Because the only people who use Firefox and are TERRORISTS!
Microsoft also plan to add Windows Update patches to have IE7 replace all <p> tags with <marquee> or <blink> tags for any page that ends with: .pl, .py, .php3, .sh, .shtml, .cml, .cfml, and any new open source (read: terrorist) communities come up with.
I can't wait to see what happens when the business community realises their open source software will just stop working when IE7 is out. Oh, that's right, no one in the real world uses Open Source.
Hell, I figure I've defended "M$" long enough, I may as well start spouting moronic nonsense about them that I know nothing about and preaching my high horse elitist views that my software has lower bug counts than yours to compensate for my face having more pimples and my life having less meaningful relationships such that I feel I must turn myself into a drooling Firefox/Opera fanboy every chance I get so that I can stick it to THE MAN.

Oh, and "Why didn't anyone post this?" Because it's not true! Firefox is Open Source!! That means it's the flapping GOD OF THE WHOLE SOFTWARE OMNIVERSE!!!!111 There can't be anything wrong with it!!!!!11 I smell a conspiracy to trick the all-enlightened Firefox users into converting back to THE WEAPON OF RAPE AND DEATH THAT IS INTERNET EXPLORER. This is obviously FUD spread by M$$$ to MAKE YOU PAY THEM MORE MONEY
MICROSOFT MAKE MONEY FROM SOFTWARE!!! I mean, come on, how unfair is that?! COMPANIES THAT ARE PROFITABLE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. Argh! No one pays me even though I'm in the top 12,000,000,000,000 on Battlefield.net. Even though I get it free because I steal all the software on my PC.
You can take my word for it, I mean, I won 17 straight games of counterstrike!!!1 And I was the only one at TAFE enrolments 2005 who knew what a <B> tag does (if you're not DUMB LIKE MICRO$OFT you'll know <B> makes this blue!!1!) If only I could get rid of these flapping pimples.
Grr... just wait till I blog about this!!!! MICRO$OFT YOU ARE GOING DOWN1!! I can't wait till google releases a linux operating system! finally, a faster way to search the 90 gigs of pron on my mums computer (I spend all my money on pokemon and yugioh cards). Don't you hate when you know WIND0ZE search is going to take longer than 4 seconds to search your hard drive? (and for someone like me, if its not sub-4 seconds, it's too late). GO GOOGLE!!1
LOL LOL LOL LOLOLOLOL MICRO$$$$$OFT u r dead meeet!!!!1
okay, 10:6 firefox:IE
lets check patches and new exploits over the same time.
firefox 10, all patched
ie 6 patched, 16 found and ms in denial.
secunia.com has a great listing of exploits found, and how long it took for patching.
often as much as 18 months for CRITICAL exploits to get patched in ie.
I detest firefox almost as much as ie.
to much an ie look / feel, with support for the ms admitted security breach, activex.
when mozilla killes the suite for the seamonkey project, if it has same look and feel as firefox, that's when I go 100% web browsing in lynx.
( nope, no java runtime environment to be able to use opera, and it ain't gonna get installed. you want an app to run on my system, compile it into machine code, not a jit compile or interpreted language. )
