Superman gets his "super powers" from the solar radiation... of our YELLOW sun... so he as soon as he's "so far" away from a yellow star he loses his powers and explodes in deep space... even Superman has his limits... jeez. n00b.
That's totally a myth. He gets his powers from eating Wheaties, just like everyone else.

Also, I'm not even going to attempt to debate you about the big bang, since you'll just ignore my points anyways. I'll just say that you're wrong, and if you do a little research on the big bang or how science works you'll find out why.

    god is the devil.

and i agree with no-one that my thoughts exactly.

govt can take a potty break on this one.

but if he wants to go ahead and make his point id like to hear
them, but i will in the end probably ignore them, because
if they conflict with thsi they can not possibly be right.

Food for thought: According to that movie with Jeff Bridges where Kevin Spacey (ironic name) is an alien, it is only impossible to accelerate to the speed of light, but you can travel at the speed of light. I'm not saying I agree with that idea, but you reminded me of it, so I thought I'd share.

Just because you're travelling at the speed of light doesn't mean you stop, it simply means that light is no longer travelling faster than you, so photons of light are essentially stopped in place.

Oh, absolutely, you can't accelerate to it, but if you're already going faster, then it's no problem.
There are also these particles (or something, I'm not sure exactly what they are) whose "lifetime" is really short (in their time), but for us, they last really long (or the other way around) and manage to travel really far in short times (according to one of the points of view, at least). IIRC they bombard the Earth constantly.

I should have phrased my post better, but assuming we travel slower than light by a considerable amount (which seems true enough for me), there's no way to travel at that speed. Unless of course we try to do what Spacey did and ride some faster-than-light particle.

On a side note, it is never really make clear wether Spacey really is an alien, or possed by one, or just plain crazy. He says he is and has some sort of proof to back that up (doesn't know how the Earth works and his scientific knowledge) but we are left to decide for our own.

why does it matter if he was an alien or not, it was a movie,
a decent movie to i might add. but wether he knew how
to travel the speed of light, it was some writer in the distance
    that came up with it.

but the idea still sounds interesting.

    @Snip:

I knew it was a bit more complicated than what Thantos wrote, you've just reminded me.
The singed bit, of course! The max value a 32 bit int can hold is actually 2^31, which gives you the right answer.

    So in this line,
    2^63 = 9223372036854777778
    9223372036854777778 / 31557600 = 292271023045,31326140137399548762

Which is close enough to 292,271,023,045 giving us almost 300 billion (milliards for europeans) years to solve the problem (basically to move to 128 bit processors). I consider this enough, but you are free to disagree.

And if the numbers are short, in my defense I have to say that I'm runing a 32bit OS (although on a 64bit processor. I'll have to get my hands on a x64 Windows or get a wireless card that's supported (properly) undel Linux).
The actual max value with n bits is this:
    0 - 2^n - 1 max value (unsigned)
    -2^(n-1) - 2^(n-1)-1

Now I'm pretty sure C and C++ do not define that size requirements of time_t.

@ Everyone else: Don't make me split the thread

oh, he did... and no, Superman is just a comicbook character...

oh.. im not wrong... i was right... and well informed on the subject, just in the past... we're in the future now!
and why waste my time reading about it when the big band theory can't even explain what it was invented to explain?

    ... on topic...

by the time this bug is a problem most systems will be 64 bit and China will try to invade the U.S.A. again starting another time loop...

    aww geez..
you can accelerate to the speed of light, as long as you can generate the energy.

    the good old e=mc^2

    e=0 if m=0

we only have to figure out how to reduce mass to be capable of generating the power needed.

string theory, an offshoot of quantum physics and chaos theory.
extremely small, extremely dense objects that vibrate faster than the speed of light.

mesons, an extremely tiny particle, being radiated from all stars, that travel at the speed of light, and go through everything. material objects and gravity have zero effect on them.
( theory only, no proof yet )

these theories get wierder, like particles with a rotation of 1/2
so it would have to rotate 720 degrees to turn the same face in the same direction...

Oh, C doesn't. It's POSIX who does. IIRC it needs to be an int. Therefore on 64bit machines it's 64.

Altough I still have to figure out why it's 32 on my system, according to sizeof.

Does Time Travel related to 4 th Dimension?
I have heard that string Theory according to string theory there are 6 dimensions.
and there is another theory that is Theroy of Parallel Universe.Only heard its name.
