    Oh Bum!!

    Damn,damn,damn and damn some more.
I have had a dodgy internet connection at home for some time now. Had BT round several times and they are still at a loss to the cause of the fault. Well lately I have gone back to some recreational diablo 2 l.o.d. playing hardcore on USWest. My char was a lvl 87 Javazon and I was running pindleskin while the wife teleported down to baals throneroom and we lost our internet connection just as I got to pindleskin. He was light-immune and I had a full life globe of just under 2000. When the internet reconnected I came back to the monk robes!
I am sick as a parrot, losing a good annihilus, a chains of honour, stormshield, eth titans, almost perfect ravenfrost, some good charms. Its not dieing that bothers me, thats a fact of life in hardcore, but to die with a full life globe because the game doesnt realise my internet connection has dropped for anything up to 5 minutes, thats terrible. Damn blizzard and their half-assed c++ programmers. 10 patches and still not got it right.
Excuse my moaning, I just feel sick to see all that hard work die for no fault of my own.

My internet's been the same way a lot lately. It'll just completely randomly disappear.

I've developed a method of fixing it though:

Half the time, doing an release/renew fixes the problem for some reason.
If that doesn't work, go downstairs, unplug router and modem...wait a few seconds, plug modem back in and wait for it to boot, then plug router back in and usually it works.

Sometimes I really hate networking >.<

And damn man..that really sucks about Diablo. No GM's you can talk to about it?

You know what fixes it for me.... I have ADSL at home. Our fault is an intermittent loss of sync. This occurs up to 60 or 70 times a day. Pathetic for an always on connection. If we either make a call or recieve a call or dial out on a 56k modem then sync returns. The length of time that sync returns for is proportional to the length of time the voiceline is active. It never seems to screw up when BT are here but always within 2 hrs of them going!

hell no... they have something somewhere about they DO NOT CARE, whatever reason your hardcore character dies they CANNOT(i.e. will not) bring them back... so... he's screwed...

Filters have been changed many times. I can take either of my 2 routers and put them on the master phone socket with no pcs attatched and we can sit there and watch sync disappear and reappear. Its some sort of phoneline fault or a problem at the ISP's end.

It might have something to do with your windows, I usualy format every 3-4 months (there is always somethign that messes up) and i remember that after i formated my internet started crashing like yours every 30-60 minutes and it really ticked me off, i called my cable company and they said that everything is fine, and then i noticed that my old computer's internet doesn't crash. So i formated again and its been working fine ever since.

Did you read the thread? It happens with only a single router plugged into the master socket with nothing else attatched to the router. How can that be caused by a windows problem. It also happens with any combination of the 8 filters I now own. It also occurs on 2 different routers. I think its fairly safe to assume the problem is between house and isp and not inside my house.Should be having BT coming back this week again.Again the connection will probably be perfectly behaved while they are here.
