A couple of days ago, I was out in my car and it started making a squeaking noise. It had not done this before. The squeak appears to be coming from the front passenger side wheel.
The squeak is high pitched, and proportional to road speed, not engine speed. It is present on about 66% of trips.
Sometimes if it has not squeaked on part of a journey, it will start if I have stopped at lights or whatever. Similaly, if it has been squeaking and I need to stop, it may not begin again when I start driving again.
The squeak has a "tremelo" effect in fact, if you have been to warmer lands, it sounds like crickets/cicadas. The tremelo frequency is also dependent on road speed.
Most time, it is only when I am driving straight, if I turn the wheel it diminishes and often dissappears, starting again when I straighten up.
It always disappears instantly if I touch the brakes, and starts again when I take my foot off the pedal.
My first thoughs were wheel bearings or something, but that doesn't really fit all the symptoms.

Any idea what that may be?
