It's most probably your brake pad wear indicator. It's a thin metal strip built into the pads that squeals when your pads are worn to indicate that it's time for a change. It stops when you brake because it's then being pressed onto the disk so it no longer vibrates.
Changing pads is pretty simple if you take your time.
