nah you can get a good 64bit motherboard
and Athlon64 3000+ for less then $250
One of my friends just got a kick ass computer for <$800, and a AMD 64bit 3800+ (Vince), not sure about mobo but its pretty good, 2Gb ram and 250GB HDD, and he used a Radeon 9800 from his old computer, and other stuff like case fans
