I asked myself a question today: Can all the information on the Internet be stored in a small room?
Let's take a rather small room with the dimensions 4x4x2.5 meters. The volume is then 40 m^3.
The voume of a 500 GB HD is (perhaps) 15x10x3 cm. The volume is 450 cm^3 = 0,00045 m^3.
This means that we can fit 88,000 * 500 GB = 43,000 TB of data into the room.
According to http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/..., Internet contained 532,897 TB of data in 2003. Since e-mail is 80% of that figure, you could probably reduce it a lot by removing all spam. Still, you'll need a large room/house to store all of Internet. If you concentrate on useful information, a backpack would probably be more than enough, though.
Soon I'll be able to go home from work...
