Thread: Service Woker Rant

11 months ago FireTronics (company that installed fire alarm system in apartmen complex) came in to fix a short in the system for our building. 5 months later they came in to apparently fix the same problem that was never fixed. Last month came in AGAIN to fix the problem that still hadnt been fixed, this time making a huge whole in our wall (the whole system is daisy chained into our apartment). Today yet another crew came to attempt to fix it, but just left after not even trying anything.

So for the past 11 months my building has gone without a fire alarm. I wouldn't care too much but last year an apartment building owned by the same company down the street was burned to the ground, so I dont trust college students (even though I myself am one).

The other thing that ........es me off is that this company has failed to fix the problem, and theyre obviously charging for it, which in turn makes rent increase (of course our rent pays for everything around here). How can they just screw us for our money?

i'm sure that's agains fire codes. maybe you can report them (management co.)

Management knows, if that's what youre referring to.

Complain to your management about it - there's no reason they should keep paying them to keep screwing up the job. If they don't care, maybe talk to the fire department or something.

Management already knows, the thing is that college students run this place, so I don't see them doing anything about it, we have our own maintanence crew, but they can't fix it either.

Some background info, I live in the USA's largest _all_student_ apartment complex, consisting of 96 buildings each holding 36- 4 bedroom apartments. The rent we pay I calculated that the complex generates about $6.5 million dollars in rent every month. Students can live free if they "work" for the complex, so no one ever does anything and its quite beuracratic.

The fire marshall is already involved, thats who put in the initial complaint to get this fixed.
