    RAR rant.

    <rant>
    Why is nothing ever as easy as it should be?

    Okay, I have an old Pentax K1000 camera, a genuine Japanese version with the stamped metal top and bottom plates. I blew the dust off it and took it out on a photo shoot yesterday as my Canon is in for servicing at the moment. After about 15 pictures it jammed.

    Okay I thought, I'll go onto photo.net and someone there will point me at a resource for fixing it. They did, and I downloaded an official K1000 servicing manual. It is a .rar file.

    I threw the file at WinZip which seems to decode just about everything and it didn't work. So I searched around for a freeware utility to open this file. I found one, downloaded it and checked it's MD5 - fine.

    So I try running it and it says it's installer files are corrupt. Thing is, how can they be corrupt and still generate the same wretched MD5 hash? So they had to be duff when loaded onto TuCows.
    </rant>

    Does anyone have a good working free .rar processing program - I've got fed up searching!

    I am not really a fan of winrar, but it is replacing winzip...

    Winrar can unzip .zip and .rar files though.
