    Ginger

I was just reading about this TOP SECRET technology that was just realized on the Good Morning America show the other day (ha ha). There has been a lot of hype in the media over this project the last few months.

For those of you who haven't heard of it yet let me clue you in a little bit. Basically it's supposed to be a new, technologically advanced type of human transportation device. It looks kind of like a scooter, but the technology that is patented in this thing is impressive. It has gyroscope stabilization, travels over many kinds of terrain, it senses the direction you want to travel by the direction you slightly lean into ect ect ......... read more here

Now that it has been released (not for sale yet though) I am just curious to hear other people's opinions about it. Is this the wave of the future? Would you ever use something like this? Should I sell my car yet or what?

Saw it on CNN. I think it is the wave of obesity. Pretty soon everyone will be looking like the Baron Harkonnen from Dune (movie or book... your choice).

Oh... I do think that it is neat that you just lean forward and it balances itself under you and moves you along. That is really neat. Could you imagine a malfunction though? Splat... flat on your face!

Remember the hype of the revolutionary Sinclair C5? I, personally, like the ideas of both, but the real test is does the thing go far enough between charges, and the answer at the moment would seem to be, no. Who wants a dandy little device that will get you somewhere but you then have to push it back?

Wow that thing is cool. Watched the video and everything. I bet that car manufacturers might be interested in the technology behind that thing since a car is also about load balancing.

My grandparents are both in wheel chairs and I they would love this thing. However, the cost looks a bit steep.

I saw it and thought it was kind of useless technology. Who in their right mind would buy one of these? As a parent, where do I put my kids??? Has anyone thought of that?

Will it carry your surfboard on the beach without your feet getting hot?
Can you get served in the drive thru (bottleshop or fast food)?
Does it have a speedo / sterio?

Ginger is just an expensive scooter and nothing more. Those extra amenities such as tilt steering and looking ultra trendy, or whatever will never be able to compete with my friends 89 Chevy Blazer that annoys neighbors by playing Creedence Clearwater Revival at ungodly decibals.

I thought that the inventor was going to come up with something more original because he has actually already created a wheelchair with the same technology and it can even climb stairs and stuff. I think it is basically just the same thing except that it is in a different form, and I can't believe that is what ginger really was because at my high school we were very into technology (have the world record in electrothon racing at the professional level), but I think most of us were looking for something much better.

The inventor actually gave a speech at my school's commencement yesterday, but I couldn't go The school gave him an honorary doctorate of engineering (considering he already had a doctorate, I wonder how much he'll actually care).

As for Ginger itself, I think it's kinda a letdown. I had heard things about using hydrogen fuel cells and the like. Now, it's just a scooter with rechargeable batteries. As for the price, of course it's high - it just came out the other day. What, did you expect to see it in Walmart this Christmas?

    I'll use my bike, thanks.
