Be happy you're not at YoungProgrammers....yuck

Alright, so I just joined this forum to see what it was like and all, figured I could contribute a little bit....well, after observing their "C Programming" forum (which, mind you, covers both C and C++ for some reason), I've noticed so much bad advice it almost made me puke.

    http://www.youngcoders.com/forum18.html

In the past hour I've made 9 posts to 9 different topics trying to fix the wrongdoings that have occured. It makes me happy to be a part of a much nicer, closer-knit and well-organized community like CBoard.

So be happy, don't worry, etc.

What's the deal with the "YC Points" thing? Is that their version of a rep system?

Hmm another board eh. I might venture over there and dish out some more poor advice.

Haha, yah that guy in the games post seems to be just a beginning programmer or something, dishing out random things he's heard.

And as I was pointing out in my post (just so you don't think I was forgetting about the APIs) is that when you *first* start off doing C/C++, you can easily make some very small games in the DOS console. Once you move on from there though, you're going to need to learn an API like OpenGL or DirectX, which, yes, involve using the Win32 API. But you don't need to know the Win32 API inside and out to make a game, for sure (rare cases include if you're making editors and such).

    (just to clarify)

And haha, It would be rather funny if we had a migration to that forum and just completely mopped it up so it's a cboard junior

No it wouldn't. It's funnier the way it is
