R2D2 and C3PO are the models of the droids. Much like AMD 3500+ and Nvidia 6800GT...just because you only own one of each, lose it for some time and find the same type doesn't mean it is yours.

I am sure they each have serial numbers, but I doubt obi-wan memorized those.

If someone related to vader was on tatooine people would talk about that, it would be interesting to them. Word of that would spread fast and reach the ears of eager sith and eventually vader himself. Obi-Wan was in charge of watching over luke so I am willing to bet they were pretty far from mos eisley(nearest largest city, I believe). He did this to keep him away from people that would be looking for him, and to keep people from spreading word or suspicion of him.

To be fair to Obi-wan, when Luke asks if the droids were his, all he says is "I don't recall ever owning any droids" which in essense is true since they were Anakin's and Padme's.

oh ok thanks that really clears things up

While technically true, it's pretty obvious he doesn't remember them at all.

True. But honestly, what could Lucas have possibly done to explain Luke being dropped off at his uncle's and Obi-Wan not recognizing them?

And while we are nitpicking, anyone else find it extremely strange that none of the jedis sensed Padme was carrying twins?

I guess we don't know exactly they have the ability to sense. I'm not going to try to explain away inconsistency in it, cause it is really just a movie but there was this "dark side clouds everything" line thrown in there.

Lets try and be fair though, I bet none of you could come up with an exciting plot that tied in 100% to the original movie. Prequels are hard and I think Lucas did a good job.

I never said I could tie everything together, but I certainly wouldn't have tied up 30 years of movies in 10 minutes, either.

The bottom line is that you guys liked it, and I didn't. I think it's ok to leave it at that, since we'll never convince each other.

Isn't there a part in one of the original movies where Obi Wan says that vader was injured in a crash? Although I doubt he would have wanted to tell luke that he cut off his legs and then left him to burn to death...

That doesn't sound familiar at all. Obi-wan says he was a great pilot, but thats' about all.

I was a bit curious about why Obi-Wan didn't finish Vader off while he had the chance... I mean, that would have seemed like the logical thing to do.

I guess im just trying to argue for Ep. 3 is because I kinda feel the same way govt is and im just trying to find excuses to justify the things that happened and to help me further understand it...so if I have gotten a bit too into it...dont mind me.

Well obviously he knew that vader was still the chosen one and he would eventually be the one to kill the emperor. You don't give Obi Wan enough credit

That the movie was rushed and there are some things that was a bit unexplained.

Also...vader wasn't the chosen one. Luke is the chosen one.

    You've got it all wrong.

Neo's the chosen one *rolls eyes*
