    Computer Jobs

Does anybody know which earns more cash. A web designer, or a software engineer.

In most cases software engineers make more money - you could look here: http://salary.com/home/layoutscripts/homl_display.asp

although i suppose a software engineer is more work, to be able to learn c++ is harder than html, javascript, css...
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

lol...algi, to make decent money being a web designer you need to know much, much, more than the few things you listed

you should also add on Flash (and action script), Photoshop and being comfortable with graphics and other graphics dedicated software - and overall, you have to be creative.

If you're trying to choose a career based solely on the amount of money being earned "today", then you're making the wrong choice.

Web design was "hot" for a while and commanded huge $$$, but as a result the world was suddenly knee deep in wannabes and salaries crashed.

If you like the job and the money it at least adequate for your needs then go for it. Because it really will have to pay huge $$$ to make a sucky job worth doing.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

No offense, but Flash and action script are 2 things that I'm leaving out of my tool box on purpose.

none taken however, most web designers have to learn flash/action script at one point or another.

Those two careers differ greatly. As was said before, choose the one you'll actually enjoy doing.
