Cops get justice on cop killer

This guy stabbed an 84 year old woman, shot and killed a detective and then ran from other officers. Then they beat the living ........ out of him. I think he got what was coming to him. He's luck they didn't just fill him with lead.

Not for the faint of heart (pic of him after the cops were done with him):
    http://edition.cnn.com/2005/LAW/04/1...ive.killed.ap/

I think more of this needs to happen. Our jails are not tough enough. People aren't scared of going to them. People aren't afraid to screw up. I think more of this would do us some good.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think every crime deserves a beating like this, but you kill someone, or ruin someone else's life, you should pay for it one way or another. None of this 5 years and you're back on the street garbage.

    Discuss.

Who said they beat him? He jumped out a third story window.

You don't look like that just jumping out of a third story window. Don't be naive. He might have broken a leg or something jumping out of a window that high, but unless he landed on his face and then picked his own head up and bounced it off of the pavement a few times, I don't think his injuries are just from the fall.

EDIT: Another article I read stated that the FBI is looking into police brutality charges.

The article said he injured his arm, head, and leg in the fall. If he landed on something, he could have screwed himself up pretty badly. You're probably right, but I'm just saying it's possible.

I'm going to try and stay out of the rest of this thread, though.

Agreed. And it's tough to get the angle and momentum just right to land on your face.

I don't have any problem with the beatdown that he apparently recieved, but I do think that it's wrong for a police officer's murder to count for more than a regular person's murder. Is an on-duty police officer's life worth more than anyone else's?
If I did your homework for you, then you might pass your class without learning how to write a program like this. Then you might graduate and get your degree without learning how to write a program like this. You might become a professional programmer without knowing how to write a program like this. Someday you might work on a project with me without knowing how to write a program like this. Then I would have to do you serious bodily harm. - Jack Klein

I think heīs even still lucky to be alive, jumping out from a window that heigh and still live trough it is amazing...

At my brotherīs work someone fell of a platform that was about 15 meters high, straight onto ice of half a meter thick.
If not for the ice he wouldīve died since he had 4 broken ribs, internal bleedings in his head, a cracked liver and so on ... His body temperature was around 33 degrees Celcius when they got him to hospital and that is probably what saved his life.

So i think that it can be very much possible that he has all these injuries of the fall.
Of course theres a chance police brutality might be involved , but who will know.

And if it was police brutality that caused all these injuries then i cannot blame the policemen who did it ... After all they are human beings just like you and me, and they saw their partner - friend lying dead on the floor somewhere , i think that at that moment you wont be able to think very clear and understand the risks of the actions you do next.

Im still amazed the guy survived the fall .

The difference is that I doubt the guy at your brother's work expected to fall, and this guy willingly jumped.

I knew someone was going to say that

I meant I'll try to stay away from the debate about the status of our prison system and whether this guy deserved to get his ass kicked. I'm sure I'll fail, though.

I'd say yes, but I don't think that's the best argument for tougher sentences for cop-killers. Someone who would go so far as to kill an on-duty police officer is much more of a danger to the public than someone who killed someone else like say his wife's lover. I know that's a difficult distinction to make, but I still think there should be a greater disincentive to murder a police officer.

Care to back that view up from a deontological perspective?

    I'm mostly kidding.

No, because it was a utilitarian argument
