It will be a long long way before we are finish with a 99% true human robot, complete with emotions, pain (sensors), self contain energy supply (food).

Out of curiosity, why would we WANT a human robot?

I mean, why make a robot that emulates humans exactly? It's kind of pointless, we already have 5 billion humans who emulate humans as exactly as is possible.

The goal of any machine is to be different from human -- machines can't be bored, or dissatisfied, or lazy, etc. Why would we WANT a machine to have these traits?

Making a machine completely human would be rather silly -- HUMANS already fill the need for humanlike creatures. What we need are machines to do things we CAN'T do, or don't want to do.

FUNNY! LOL. Some of them don't emulate humans very well though.

    Indeed.

VERY well said. Isn't that a shame. I think humanity could be SO good together if we stopped fighting amongst ourselves. What a waste. Criminal really.

Sorry, bit of a issue with me...

Creating a "perfect" robot and cloning humans are synonims.
    That's my opinion.

An intelligent machine will gain more and more information, and, at a certain point, he will surely ask: "Who am I?" (read Asimov!)
The same will be (is?) true for human clones.

Mankind will have to create new laws for these creatures, and a way to control them.

I'm nearly sure, army will be (is?) first involved in these experiments, to create new powerful weapons, kinda perfect killing machines.

I think, the perfect AI will be the next step in terran evolution, and the end of humanity as well. Once created, AI will escape from control.

    Only fiction? Hope so!
