    Thumbs down Evil Dentist

Here are the reasons that made me think that dentists are pure evil. Is this common or is it only my dentist?

    - Whenever he says that something won't hurt , IT HURTS !!!! :
Dentist : take it easy , this won't hurt
Me : ok , go ahead
    Dentist : *starts drilling*
    Me : OOWWW !!!
    Dentist : WHAT ???
Me : YOU should take it easy , it hurts !!
    Dentist : no it doesn't !!
Me : *mumbles* how the hell would you know

    - Last time he told me that he's gonna give me a special anesthetic , and everything will go smooth. I opened my mouth preparing to take the injection , he unexpectedly chose a location deep inside my mouth , somewhere close to my throat :

Dentist : Do you know how a needle feels like?
Me : *while my mouth is opened* uh-uh? ("no? ")
    Dentist : *injects*
    Me : uuuuunnnnngggghhhh
Dentist: What do you feel? a burn? a shock?
    Me : unnnnn gaaaah ("both")
Dentist : Calm down , i'm almost done ... there you go
    Me : I HATE YOU ... !!!!
Dentist : hehe , i hate you too
Me : why would you want to anesthetize me in my throat? *thinks* you idiot
Dentist : Its not your throat. I had to anestethize the main nerves.
    (5 minutes later)
Dentist : you will feel NOTHING !! nothing at all
    Me : great
Dentist : *drills for a while*
    Me : GOD !!!
Dentist : WHAT NOW??? YOU SHOULDN'T FEEL ANYTHING !!
Me : how many injections am i allowed to take?
    Dentist : about 13
Me : give me two more !!!!
    *everything goes fine*

Why do they ALWAYS LIE ??? i mean how would they know if something hurts me or not?? they assume stupid stuff like :

    a) If person some people don't feel any pain , then the rest shouldn't :
    Me : IT HURTS !!!
Dentist : I used to do it to my patients without any problems !!!
    Me : *sobs* but i'm a different patient !!!

    b) I should open my mouth for one complete hour without moving or complaining.

and more. Anyway , enough ranting .. i'll leave ya with a "scary" pic of mine when i was at the clinic. I took it with my Nokia phone while he was working ( i was bored ). It felt like he was gonna build something inside my mouth...

    Orthodontists aren't as bad.

They're just like "Shove this huge piece of plastic filled with sick-tasting goop in your mouth and stop breathing for a couple of minutes."

    You know. Everyday stuff.

My wisdom teeth just came in and I'm fortunate that I don't need them yanked out.

Yeah... You know your dentist is evil when he injects anesthetic into one side of your mouth (not a pleasant procedure), and then proceeds to rip two teeth out of the other side (also, not particularly pleasant).

And the wisdom teeth extraction procedure... Absolutely no fun at all.

I hate the dentist. He was telling me I needed to brush better and the light was shining in my eyes so I looked away and he said you can roll your eyes as long as you want your teeth to rot out or something. Everyone tells me root canals are the worst. I hated it when I had one of my teeth pulled I had to have some cotton stuff on it most of the time because it bled so much.

I'll visit an orthodontist once i'm done with my teeth. No matter what he does , atleast there is no driliing involved

since you guys mentioned wisdom tooth , how painful is extracting it? someone told me its a nightmare , but that was long time ago. Unfortunately , i have a wisdom teeth that should be extracted.

You should go before it gets infected. The dentist i went too he was good, he just used some anesthetics till my whole cheeck got numb and i couldnt feel anything. All the pain comes before you go to the dentist after it doesnt hurt as much. He gave me motrin and some other meds i cant even spell or pronounce to take after the procedure. I think i payed around $500 for 1 tooth cuz i didnt have insurance at that time, but it hurted a lot so i had to do it, as it was coming out it was pushing the other teeth and thats what was giving me pain. Afer he removed it, i asked the nurse if i can have the tooth, she gave it to me and i still have it ehehe.

What I hate the most is a filling coming out, it's like the worst thing ever. 'Cause if you got a major filling in your front teath and it comes out - next thing is a root canal and a crown!

My dentist had all these cute toys, and snoopy things on her room.
Then she was all nice and told me I wouldnt need anesthesia for a cavity because it was on the surface. And by the way, I had it because my other dentist ( which was a good one ) left a hole on my braces that collect food as a hobby for years.
So she started. God that hurt so much, and wasnt even a bad cavity.

So yes, all doctors are definitely evil

"since you guys mentioned wisdom tooth , how painful is extracting it?"

Doesnt hurt at all. Is scary as hell. If you want an extra thrill, get a spoon, put on top of your tongue and lower it so the edges of the spoon get under the edges of your teeth ( youll get 2 of them or so ). Then, tap the spoon on the handle so the head goes up. Youll get the idea and can think about it before it happens.
But I extracted what, 4 of them for the braces and it didnt hurt a bit. My advice is eating ice cream or something later, once the anesthesia starts wearing off, to keep it numb!

I remember when I had my wisdom teeth done. Well, actually, I was high as a kite on laughing gas at the time, so it's kinda blurry. It never really hurt afterwards though, just very swollen, and seeing as how I was working in a call center at the time, I got lots of time off to sleep and such.

Glad to hear that it doesn't hurt.

Yesterday the doctor checked on my 4 wisdom teeth. One of them came out and ready to be extracted. The others are still under my gum. He told me that i should either wait for them to come out (and probably start causing serious troubles) or extract them with a surgery. I'm not in a hurry , so i'll just wait *gasps*

But I extracted what, 4 of them for the braces.
The Orthodontist i visited told me that the neccesity of extracting all of your wisdom teeth before putting braces isn't a proven fact. He said that i could exctract them anytime later , even after having braces.
