    Question Psions?

    Just out of interest...
Are any of you programmers out there psions in any form? I would be very interested to know another programmer who is a psion. (Especially one I could learn off)

For all you out there who are scratching your head in confusion and wondering what on earth I am talking about a psion is someone who has psionic (or psychic) abilities.

A very good website to go to for information (free of course) is Psipog (Psychic Students in Pursuit of Guidance). By the way... please do not slag me or anyone else who practises any of this because it becomes very tiresome when people say it is all fake when you've moved things telekineticly underneath a glass bowl to avoid wind/cheating.

    Anyway...
    Is there anyone out there?

members of this underground who are respected in their communities don't talk about the interest or beliefs that qualify them for membership unless they know you too are in the club. They have learned from experience that to be outspoken brings censure - from their ministers, customers, employers, or even friends.
Is this like the fight club?

I guess you could say that
Most psions only want to experiment or use the abilities for themself. I've not met another psion who wants to cause harm to people although many would like to further themselves in society.

Yes you can... it just seems that the vast majority of people do not believe in these abilities either though fear or something even deeper ingrained into society.

Look at it this way: where would we be now if noone had accepted the earth was round? It took a few geniuses to get the idea off the ground and now everyone knows about it.

Plus: If psionics doesnt exist then why does it constantly appear in tv programs and computer games?

Another point: It has been scientifically proven that humans only use a small portion of their brain. What could humans do if they unlocked their true potential?

I myself practiced telekinesis for about 2-3 weeks and could spin a square of tin-foil balanced on a pin from the other side of my bedroom (about 2 metres away). I closed my window and my door to stop draughts, kept perfectly still and held my breath and this prooved it to me.

It would be very difficult to do that without a trick... You would need to telekineticaly move every molecule in the line of impact so that the coins never actually touched. Look up phasing on Psipog

    Use magnetism?

Or 'psi', as the case may be.

"Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

Oh, and I claim my 10% finders fee in advance.

    > could spin a square of tin-foil balanced on a pin
Sure you didn't just create one of these?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crookes_radiometer
Of course, if you omitted the "vacuum" step, then no doubt air currents could be just as plausable an explanation.

    > You would need to telekineticaly move every molecule in the line of impact
    Tried counting them recently?
Those are serious numbers to be doing anything "one at a time".

    > Another point: It has been scientifically proven that humans only use a small portion of their brain
    Where are your references?
I would suggest that nobody has a clue how the brain really works, so picking arbitrary figures like "only uses 10%" is basically meaningless.

    > why does it constantly appear in tv programs
Well the fiction section of the library is full of many things. The Wizard of Oz mentions Kansas, but that doesn't make it all true.

    > it just seems that the vast majority of people do not believe in these abilities either
When it comes to beliefs, the only thing you can be sure of is that there are more people in the world who don't believe in your particular mythology than those who do. Even your big name religions (which are really just umbrella collections of many different disagreeing sects and cults) are vastly outnumbered by the infidels!.
Of course, if any of it were clearly (and repeatably) demonstrable outside the skull of the believer (not merely inside), then the argument would disappear and the world would move on. But no, it's just another meme which exists only to perpetuate itself by dragging successive generations of the gullible into itself.

Gee, I wonder where they got the idea for a logo from - Babylon Five Psicorp perhaps?
Mind you, I really like the tagline at the bottom of the page - "If you do not like the content or the moderation, then leave."

Concentrate on your programming - http://cboard.cprogramming.com/showthread.php?t=62948 - rather than wasting time with those kooks.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I was engaged in paranormal activity. I was in a room, being watched by 90 video cameras. In the room was a cat. I looked at the cat VERY hard for an extremely long time. Then, all of a sudden, the cat FLEW across the room. And, for the paranormal part, I didn't even have control of the foot that kicked it! I swear, it happened on its own!
    See you in 13

these "Figures" generally taken out of context and refers to how much of the brain "mass" is active at any given moment, and being that different areas of your brain do different things, you would have to do everything your brain could do at once to use 100% of it... so generally doing most activities requires on average only 10% + or - (read the areas that handle that particular functionality) of your brain to be active, where as different activities require 10% + or - of different areas of the brain...

in summary: you use all of your brain, just different parts at different times... averaging about 10% at any given moment. unless your on certain drugs such as LSD, that will activate parts of your brain normally dormant during waking, or not necessary for normal functioning... etc...

    >Feel free to claim your $1M anytime - http://skepdic.com/randi.html

what so then everybody would be doing it?... hell no... thank you.

furthermore right now im using my psychic abilities to make you all skeptical, so you wont learn how to use your mind powers...
