It has been scientifically proven that humans only use a small portion of their brain.
It is an observed fact that some people here use a lot less.

A common myth. Ask any certified neurologist.

The whole thing is ridiculous, and that some people believe it too. If you want to make me belive that you can bend a spoon with your mind, then I'll supply you one and set it on a table in front of you and watch you do it like that. No need for you to be constantly stroking a spoon which you have supplied yourself. If you want to make me believe you can read my mind, then let me think some obscure thought, write it down on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope in a different room. Then you can sit by me and I'll repeadly think it and watch you "have you powers be weak for that day." That people would use trickery and call it divine through the power of god takes it to another level even.

    EDIT

A very comment myth then, as it has been taught in school several times.

I don't know which schools are those, but I studied Neuroscience and Psychology in University.

And wikipedia agrees that it's a myth.

Sorry, I think it came off sounding like I didn't believe you, I did. The school I was refering to was just middle school and they teach us incorrect, unverified, or only partially correct stuff alot. It always makes me cringe when on a test I answer what they want to hear so I can get the points rather then answering what is actually true.

    Snopes: The Ten-Percent Myth

Have you ever heard a doctor say, ". . . But luckily when that bullet entered his skull, it only damaged the 90 percent of his brain he didn't use"?

It was my understanding that all portions of the brain get used, but only a small portion is being used at any one time.

Ah, my bad. No worries then.

BTW this topic reminds me of that funny quote (can't remember the author)

All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand.

    My favourite small ad is.

Wanted: Psychic - you know who to call.

If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

*Pokes Dante Shamest, watching him involuntarily raise his hand trying to ward off the poke*

Didnt have to use psychokinesis, oh well.

I get maybe two dozen requests for help with some sort of programming or design problem every day. Most have more sense than to send me hundreds of lines of code. If they do, I ask them to find the smallest example that exhibits the problem and send me that. Mostly, they then find the error themselves. "Finding the smallest program that demonstrates the error" is a powerful debugging tool.

That was the link the OP posted, so yeah, it probably is where the (mis-)information comes from.

I took a psychic test and it says that I am very psychic. Although, it only said that after asking if I am planning on getting a college degree, if I plan on buying a car in the next six months or plan on paying off student loans.

But, that's not why I'm convinced I'm psychic. You see, I KNEW I would get a very high score, because I had a gut feeling that if I just answered 'yes' to all of the questions at this test:

    http://www.sixthsearch.com/rupsychic/index.asp

that I would turn out to be very psychic.

As a side note my head is magnetized. I throw off compasses.

telekinesis training manual (the name of the author doesn't matter a whole lot, evidently)

    http://www.psipog.net/show.php?id=10121

It makes reference to computers! With pictures!
