Got this on email today, had to share, though I wouldn't be surprized if everybody's seen it already.
Windows 95 (Wihn-dohs n-eye-ntee f-eye-v) (n)- A 32-bit patch to a 16-bit GUI for an 8-bit operating system written for a 4-bit processor by a 2-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.
I still to this day fail to see the over zealousness of hatred against Microsoft. They're still one of the best software companies out there.
But yeah windows 95 sucked.

It's been a while since I used 95, but I used 98 up until a few months ago. I was surprised to find out you can go more than a day without your computer crashing...

I think that's pretty good for one of the first "home-oriented" OSes though, considering that most early home computers would catch fire if you left them on anyway. Oh, to be cooking on 8 MHz again...
I have '95 on my 233MHz P-II machine. I can in all honesty say that the '95 box has given me less trouble then all of my others put together. During the crisis I had earlier this year with the storm damage to power and comms, the '95 was the only one I had working.
Before anyone asks, I keep '95 on it because I like to test the software I produce across a variety of platforms to be sure I am not making assumptions I shouldn't!

98 is the best in my opinion. I'm typing on XP right now and it freezes about once a day. In fact, this is my second time typing this because it just froze and I had to turn it off and on and check the C: drive for errors... Sometimes I think Microsoft does this on purpose. *sigh*

The trouble you're having with XP sound like the troubles I had with 98. So far, I haven't had a single crash with XP (although I turn this computer off almost every day, but the new computer my dad bought is on 24/7 and it hasn't crashed yet).Originally Posted by fuh

The XP machine I am using now used to just "freeze" on me requiring a power cycle to get it up again. Looking in the logs, nothing was posted, no blue screen, nothing - it just stopped. I'd every hardware tester I could get running, and all told me everything was just fine.
The problem turned out to be the disk drive. Despite passing all the XP tests, the tests by Sandra, and the tests loaded from a bootable floppy with Maxtors own diags and torture tester, I replaced the disk and the problems all went away.
Even now, I have that disk installed as a secondary in this machine, and it seems to work fine, but it is not the system/swap drive anymore.
