True. Without that defense they are probably a 8-8 team with Vick and 5-11 without him.

yet vick has been sacked how many times?

on a side note: Chad lewis will be out for the SB with a severe foot injury. I think everyone is making too much of it already. Yes, he scored two TD's yesterday, but hes being replaced by LJ smith who is a very capable player. I think they will be fine without Lewis.

    > everybody in the world knows that he is only going to throw to Crumpler

Well it's a good thing he's never stopped trying to throw it to him. If your TE is your number one target, there are serious problems with both the skill of your quarterback and the skill of the GM.

    > Its not his ego, its just the way the Atlanta offense is designed right now.

Like I said, I don't think he has ego issues, at least not in the same neighborhood as TO or Keyshawn "Leon" Johnson or Freddie "Greatest Player in the History of the World who only caught 2 passes yesterday" Mitchell. He's a good runner, and he knows it, but he relies on it too much. That's what I've been trying to say, he thinks run first and pass later. Yes, plenty of their plays are runs designed for him, but you can't tell me that the huge yardage he lost on just a handful of sacks were because of those plays.

    > They win when he can run and lose when he can't, so why would Atlanta call passing plays?

So why not make him an RB? This year's draft is pretty QB rich, isn't it?

    > That's a heck of an improvement and I think that's an even bigger reason that the Falcons made it this far this year compared to last

Totally. Defense wins championships, in pretty much any sport. (offense is just more fun to watch )

    > because if vick keeps holding the team on his legs, hes going to loose his career to injury

This is probably true as well. Remember how great they were when his leg was broken? When you take as many hits as he does something bad is going to happen.

    > yet vick has been sacked how many times?

Second most sacked QB in the league, behind David Carr, that lovable punching bag. I didn't see anything about the O-Line in those posts, but I think at least some of the sacks are totally Vick's fault. There's a time to to throw the ball away, and he doesn't have any idea when that is. He's so addicted to the idea that he can make something out of nothing that he tries it every time.

I don't want you to think I'm totally anti-Vick or anything. I'm not. I mean, Jesus, it's obvious - when he plays, the Falcons have a MUCH better chance than when he doesn't. I just hate hate hate the fact that whenever he does anything any quarterback should be able to do he's showered with praise, and when he makes stupid mistakes they're ignored. He's not the first mobile QB in the league, so I don't know where that distinction comes from. Like RoD said, McNabb started putting up those numbers when he stayed put, and he didn't even have any decent receivers until this year, either.

Has there been any word on TO playing in the SB?

    edit: This is fun

TO will be running on the foot this week. When asked last night, live after the win while accepting the trophy, andy said:

Q: So we are all dying to know, will TO be playing in the SB?
A: I dont see any reason to expect otherwise.

    He is a snob tho.

I mostly agree with you, just not the fact that Crumpler being the number one receiver is Vick's fault. Also, I think the big difference here is if anything I've heard the exact opposite about what people are saying about him. The only time I ever hear anyone praising him is when he runs, and usually I hear announcers saying his passing and decision making needs to improve. If I heard them gushing over him like you say I'm sure I'd have the same feelings towards him He does get sacked more than he should but I think that'll improve with time, after all this is only his second full season. I also think there's an unreasonable amount of pressure on him each game to make crazy plays thus leading to numerous sacks and bad decisions. I totally agree that he is guaranteed to get hurt soon which will be a real shame IMO.

TO is pretty much guaranteed to play, how could he not? I just wish they would announce it now so we don't have to listen to the whole "Will he or won't he?" debate for the next two weeks.

    > He is a snob tho.

I know I pimp SA all the time, but there was an absolutely fantastic thread about TO when he did his little "who am i gonna play for" routine. Someone noticed TO actually posts to his own fan boards, and good god is he retarded.

    > just not the fact that Crumpler being the number one receiver is Vick's fault.

It's not just , but typically if the TE gets the most looks it means the QB isn't trying to go downfield as much as he should be. It doesn't make any sense that Crumpler can get more separation than Price or Finneran or anyone, especially on interior routes.

    > I totally agree that he is guaranteed to get hurt soon which will be a real shame IMO.

You didn't give me anything to argue against, jerk.

    > TO is pretty much guaranteed to play, how could he not? I just wish they would announce it now so we don't have to listen to the whole "Will he or won't he?" debate for the next two weeks.

If he actually came out and said it he wouldn't be TO.

    > the head coach said hes playing so why ppl are debating it is beyond me

That could totally be a mind game, though. If NE spends all their time preparing for TO and he doesn't play... whoops!

Yeah, I think he'll probably play, but I don't think Reid's the final say on it in any case.

    >>So why not make him an RB? This year's draft is pretty QB rich, isn't it?

I think that would be a bad move. Yes he is not the best QB in the league in the air, but his QB rating is in the middle of the pack - 78.8. Not great, but not awful. The falcons alreay have 2 great backs in Duckett and Dunn. By having Vick on the field you get an average thrower with the addiional benifit of another back who can do play action. When vick hands the ball off and then bootlegs out to the other side defenses are forced to cover both Vick and the running back until they are sure who has the ball; That makes the running game and the passing game much more effective.

Moreover, this was his first year - and the team's first year (a very young team) - in a new system. Several of the incompletes yesterday were simply bad communication between Vick and his recievers. McNabb used to have the same problems, time will help.

    >>Second most sacked QB in the league, behind David Carr

Tied for Culpepper for second. Plus what do you expect out of a guy who keeps the ball (on design) more often than other QBs do...same with Dante.

Look I agree he gets way to much press. But he makes a massive impact every time he steps on the field - arguably more than any other player in the game (just by being a third back). His passing game does need work, and he needs to learn the system better, but he's only 24 years old, he has 7-10 more years in him. Give him time and I think he'll be one of the best (or probably at least on the Pennington./Hassleback decent-good passer level).

    >>the head coach said hes playing so why ppl are debating it is beyond me

Misinformation. Last week he called Jim Mora and the Falcon's D-Corrdinator (both of whom coached TO at the 49ers and are friends - to tell them "Look out for me coach, I'll be there, I'm coming!"

    >>I know I pimp SA all the time, but there was an absolutely fantastic thread about TO when he did his little "who am i gonna play for" routine. Someone noticed TO actually posts to his own fan boards, and good god is he retarded.

I just read him on his board. Man he's dumb. In his defense he only posts on the "ask terrell" section, but his posts are all one liners, bad grammer, bad spelling, and ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

    > When vick hands the ball off and then bootlegs out to the other side defenses are forced to cover both Vick and the running back until they are sure who has the ball

They have to do this with any QB, especially any mobile one. Vick's not special in this respect.

    > Tied for Culpepper for second.

That's what I get for doing stats from memory. I'm not sure on this (and I don't care enough to check at work), but I bet you Vick lost a lot more yards due to being sacked than Culpepper.

    > But he makes a massive impact every time he steps on the field - arguably more than any other player in the game (just by being a third back)

Blah, blah, blah. Repeating the same thing over and over again doesn't make it any more true. At the very least, repeating it over and over again with using anything to back it up doesn't make it true.

    > he has 7-10 more years in him.

Unless/until his injuries catch up with him.

    > bad spelling

Hehe I don't think you're allowed to rag on anyone from their spelling, especially after you misspelled "grammar".

    > ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS

Don't forget they're usually in bold, too (or at least they were). The best part is that every time he posts it's like he's writing a text message to someone. I don't think he knows what a real word looks like, but if you call him on it, he'll remind you he won all sorts of spelling bees when he was in school (I'm not kidding, either).

See if his "GT YO POPCORN RDY" thread is still on there. That's where he complained about his rights being violated because he wasn't traded where he wanted to go.
