No. In fact CFS2 does not track any other objects except for multi-player aircraft unless you are in a mission. Even while inside of a mission all non-aircrafts objects are only tracked relative to the user's computer. In other words the game world is not relative to the server and is not constant. So if you destroy a ship on your computer that same ship on another person's computer would not show up as being destroyed. The same holds true for many other objects.

It seems that MS goal in CFS2 was primarily online - arcade style dogfighting. If you want a much better code base for an online multi-player air combat sim check out IL2: Forgotten Battles and the recent Pacific Fighters add on/stand-alone set. The only problem with IL2's graphic engine is that it does not handle terrain nearly as well as Microsoft does. But Microsoft has been doing terrain engines ever since MS Flight Sim version 1.0 so they should be very good at it.
