Crimson Editor is a nice little editor for win, i use it for little bits and pieces (nice syntax highlighting).. i find it struggles for writing larger programs alittle.
For win programming i generally use mingw developer studio, when coding unix/linux i use pico/nano/vi and gcc.
Microsoft is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistant one.
