Can you Microwave Regular Hot dogs?

Hello! My Mom and I are having an argument about microwaving hot dogs. She says that I can use a regular hot dog, put holes in it, and it's microwavable! But I feel if the package that came with the hot dogs doesn't say microwavable, then it's probably not a microwavable hot dog!

So are the regular hot dogs just as microwavable as the "microwavable" hot dogs?

Why don't you try it out and tell us?

Or even better, stick a couple of green grapes in your microwave for a minute or so.

But I don't understand, why don't they put "Microwavable" on the packages that have barbeque cookout pictures on?

It seems logical that it would be OK to microwave regular hot dogs, but there's no "this is microwave safe" stamp :(

some people say microwaves and metal have a bad effect together. They try this out on myth busters and they said it was busted? My OWN PERSONAL experience is me putting pop tarts in the microwave with the aluminum wrapper below them. Have you guys ever seen those balls with electricity from the center if you touch it the electricity comes toward you hands? That was the result and it made some horrible sounds. I stopped and got it out. I tryed the bottom pop tart and it tasted like burnt aluminum BLEH. The top one just smelled of aluminum, but I still took 4 bites and threw it away.

wow....how can you even have an argument about that - i didn't even know that there are packages which say "microwavable" on them; I microwave whatever hotdogs I have - punching holes? wtf? but you just have to wacth the time and heat power as they have a tendency to explode if left in for too long.

its probably for the americans. Up here in canada we don't micorwave 'em. we do them outside in front of the bonfire. Cause we don't wanna burn down the igloo eh.
