    don't...take...ambien

I've had problems with sleeping all of my life. When I was younger I had 'night terrors' where I would run around screaming, but I was actually asleep. I get plenty of exercise everyday, but I've just got this genetic sleep problem (my father has it too).

So, I was prescribed ambien for ten days (expensive stuff, costs 50 bucks for 10 pills, luckily our insurance covered half). I took one last night...

For one, I dont' know that 'sleeping medication' is the right term. At first, I felt really good actually. My body felt kind of light, almost like I was drunk. But then, it didn't just put me to sleep, it was more like a drug induced coma.

Then the worst part of it, I had absolutely the SCARIEST nightmares I've ever had in my whole life. It was extremely vivid and I remember them with utmos clarity what went on. I was chasing somebody through a big ass field surrounded by a fence. The person I was chasing climbed over the fence. When I tried to do the same a pack of huge dogs came out and started chasing me. They finally caught me, and literally started tearing me to pieces. I remember laying in the middle of the field mortally wounded, trying to crawl away, and the dogs killed me...isn't it bad luck or something to witness yourself being killed in a dream? Does it count if you're on medication?

    Ambien is (not) @\/\/350/\/\3!

don't...take...health information from message boards. :-)

Here's what the company provided product information sheet says.
    http://www.ambien.com/consumer/utili...ienPatient.pdf

Changes in behavior and thinking: Some people using sleep medicines have experienced unusual changes in their thinking and/or behavior. These effects are not common. However, they have included:
    • more outgoing or aggressive behavior than normal
    • loss of personal identity
    • confusion
    • strange behavior
    • agitation
    • hallucinations
    • worsening of depression
    • suicidal thoughts
How often these effects occur depends on several factors, such as a person’s general health, the use of other medicines, and which sleep medicine is being used. Clinical experience with Ambien suggests that it is uncommonly associated with these behavior changes.
It is also important to realize that it is rarely clear whether these behavior changes are caused by the medicine, an illness, or occur on their own. In fact, sleep problems that do not improve may be due to illnesses that were present before the medicine was used. If you or your family notice any changes in your behavior, or if you have any unusual or disturbing thoughts, call your doctor immediately.
The good news is that, if you kill anyone in the next few days, you can blame it on Ambien. Please don't take that seriously, I only play a lawyer on the internet.

Based on this product information, I'm pretty certain that someone is spiking the cboard drinking tap with Ambien.

I irony is I read all of that. It comes with the prescription.

    edit:
nightmares don't seem to be listed anywhere, are they? I certainly haven't had any of the worse side effects such as personality change or depression. The heck, I can't even get the right side effects I guess I'm retarded.

Yeah...I can't exactly really describe to you what it was like. It was worse than a nightmare...it was more like a hallucination, just conveniently placed while I was sleeping. christ, I *really* thought I was being killed by dogs. It almost sounds funny, but it was scary as hell...i've got 9 more of these pills...if the 4 miles a day I'm running can't put me to sleep at night then I'm probably going to just start taking half a pill at a time and hoping for the best.

    genetic disorders suck

Are you sure you have a genetic sleep problem? It´s not because your father has it and you have too, that the answer is in the genes. Other factors could be leading to that.

    Thats some fudged up shyt.
    And yes
I never had a nightmare that I could remember, but just reading yours was scary enough.

Edit: Did you ever seek professional help because of the dreams? Could be helpfull >.o

I was talking to someone just the other day on IRC. He said he had double dose of ambien and was drinking alcohol (cant remember what he was drinking). He said he was hallucinating stuff! Like monsters dancing to the music he was listening to or something like that.

Im sure you all heard what happened to ripper
