    Introduce Myself

Hello, I just joined, dont see an introduction topic so I thought it would be alright for me to make one for myself.

I am Ap, I live in Florida, and know a little about programming, I've learned HTML, javascript, and I've been stepping into JAVA lately.

So In joining I also have a question. Is C++ used more than JAVA? I know that they are similar, and I want to start out with the most widely used language. Also, what are some good book names I should buy?

    Thanks much if you know

    Ap

Save yourself quickly and do a board search before the flames of red candy descend upon you!!

This topic has been discussed quite a bit here (more than enough). No hard feelings, just remember before asking a question here to search for it. This community's large enough that a vast majority of questions like that have been debated and talked about many a times.

And welcome to the boards, enjoy the stay Don't make the cheez (or any other major green candy holders) angry and you'll do fine.

well according to the current education system, Java is a better language to start out with. You will find a [understatement]bit[/understatement] of a different opinion on these boards I say learn the language that you want - ultimately you will end up in the same place.

    Welcome to the boards Ap!

Make sure you read our board policies which could be found in stickies on top of every forum. Enjoy.

The serve different purposes and differen audiences, so answering this question wouldn't help you much. Both are very popular.

    >and I want to start out with the most widely used language.
You should instead start out with the language that best supports things that you want to do with it.

    >Also, what are some good book names I should buy?
I always recommend Accelerated C++ by Koenig and Moo for starting out with C++.
My best code is written with the delete key.

Welcome Apathy. If you're true to your name you'll fit right in here.

Learn C++ first, otherwise you'll have to go to the jboard at javaprogramming.com for help.

Behind his back we just call him Luh. He doesn't seem to mind. Do you, Luh?
