    I don't think anybody ever said that it's perfectly accurate for all people (in my post above, I said "While lucky's example isn't necessarily right for ALL people it's actually the most basic idea of where the golden ratio comes from."). It's just kind of neat that these ratios, on average, are very close to the golden ratio.

    The other examples in the book are actually kind of, almost, spooky, because there are all sorts of places where the golden ratio surfaces, and is *exactly* equal to the golden ratio. Plus, tied with other sequences (the fibonacci series) this particular number has some properties which math dorks find interesting.
