Nooo! Not more crazy old people on the board!
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
You. Fetch me my copy of the Wall Street Journal. You two, fight to the death - Stewie
HI doubleanti!

Hola
The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.
Hey! Long time no see, man! I remember the first thread I posted here, I forgot to add break statements to my switch block, and you were the guy to solve my problem! Aww... rep++ for doubleanti...
Nice to be here!!!
I'm glad I could help and would like to get back into the swing of things so far as community goes!
Oh, and so much has changed... what's with these new green life-bars below folks names? =) Haha, it's so strange to look at the post counts and still be rather high in them...
In case anyone has wondered exactly what I'd been doing, well, it's been going to school completely. Quite a set of goals I'd set for myself, and new academic endeavours have abounded. Hopefully my future at graduate school will be just as bright soon enough, but it looks like speech processing will be my niche in life so far, or... at least it's the funnest research I've been doing to date!
Hm, interesting to note that there was a multthreading simulation program in one of my courses, and extra points were given to those who could optimize faster than the professors code. Well, all those tricks about inlining, avoiding double calculations, and using lookup tables... well I learned them here! Thanks to everyone and I feel so welcome! PM me if you'd like! Does... anyone have any questions (not about my gender!)?
Sincerely,
doubleanti

I'm still waiting for that, it even gives me sleepless nights
welcome back

The green life-bars are reputation. Below where it says someone is online or offline, you can add reputation. Based on whether you approve or disapprove, it adds or subtracts points from that reputation. How many points you can add or take away depends on how long you've been registered, your own reputation, and your post count (I think...). Clicking on UserCP will reveal a list of recent additions to your reputation. You'll also notice people some people have lots of red bars. This means they are stupid. That is all you need to know about reputation...
edit: Oh, and there limits in place to prevent abuse of the reputation system. You can't give reputation to the same post twice, and you have to give reputation to 2 or 3 different people before you can give to the same person. I'm not sure if this was in effect when you were still here, but "I am sillyI am silly" shows up every time someone cusses, or forgets the 'f' in "left shift operator" (That has happened several times).
It's been a long time indeed. I want to look into the song signature stuff too... there's so much I have to learn though.
