Youve never seent the "Google Labs Aptitude Test"?
Theres a copy of it here.
This space intentionally left blank. Please fill it with something that improves upon emptiness.
I know a couple of upper-year CS students here at Waterloo who are going to be working at Google. Hopefully I'll get a co-op there someday.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
You. Fetch me my copy of the Wall Street Journal. You two, fight to the death - Stewie

Oh, cool - you got the offer?Originally Posted by SilentStrike

Yeah.. they gave me an offer. The interviews were interesting, and in retrospect, I probably did better during them than I thought that I did. They asked some really good questions. I've only been on an interview with one other company so far, but Google's interview was challenging and fun, if a bit unsettling, where as the other interview I was at was really boring.
They flew me out to California, paid for a nice hotel, I got to see the Googleplex (that place is definitely nice).
So what was the position? Are you going to take it?
They offered me a job as a Software Engineer. I am going to apply to graduate school and see where I can go before I decide (maybe being a PhD student at MIT is better than working at Google... I'll make that decision if I have to). All my friend say I should work at google, but my professors say I should go to grad school, so I am somewhat torn.
they are a cool company arent they?
...an employee-friendly culture that offers free meals...
I dunno man, you can always do grad school later. Whatever happens, congrats!
Yeah, Google has been placing all sorts of recruitment stuff in one of my school's newspapers. There were some full page ad puzzles, the Google Labs Aptitude Test has appeared twice, and the latest is this cardboard insert entitled "How to Care for Your Big, Wonderful High-Performance Brain", and there is a bunch of random trivia on the back.
Did you know that Einstein's brain was about 170 grams below the human average, and the outermost covering of the brain is called "dura mater" - Latin for "hard mother"?
The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.
If you really can do grad school at MIT, and you pass that up for google, I will kill you.Originally Posted by SilentStrike

Maybe she doesn't like the environment at MIT. When I transfer to the UC system I could go to UC Berkeley but I'm not going to. I don't like the environment there and so I'll go to UC Davis which is a "lesser" University as far as engineering goes.Originally Posted by Darkness
That's actually exactly what she said...she said she didn't think the learning environment would be all that great, and she mentioned something about intellectual elitists.
I have an ex-girlfriend who goes to harvard, and that's the exact type of problem she's run into...you have a lot of really bright people, but everyone thinks they're better than everyone else, all at the same time.
and both of these girls are really nice, easy to get along with, hard working, and absolutely brilliant (and hot, tee hee)
although to be fair, I don't like it a whole lot where I'm at. I am probably going to transfer to mechanical engineering, from EE/CE, and spend all of my time working on physics programs and learning to play the piano...otherwise, I'm just not learning a whole hell of a lot. That's part of the reason I tried army rotc, to do something new, but i"m probably also going to be getting out of that shortly
wow, uc berkeley? That and the marines...you're obviously a 'go get em' type of dude, very admirable. I guess you're good ta go
