    > haha no thanks...
haha it's so funny that it's pathetic haha but i'm not going to tell you how because i'm posting in a debate thread and i'm afraid of debate hahaha

    > since the discovery of the electro magnetic spectrum humans have ;earned that what they can touch, taste, smell, see, and hear is only one billionth of reality
    OK there Incubus.

    > just because we have not created an instrument to detect the properties that God may posses does not mean that we can discredit God on the grounds of lack of evidence

That's possible, I suppose, but most major scientific breakthroughs have discredited parts of what the holy books tell us is the nature of God, so I don't see why it's not a logical conclusion.

    >whether God created us or we created God, God does exist; if not physically, then conceptually.

thats because evolution speaks for its self, mine is based on my judgement of the facts, and judgement/opinion debates are pointless at best, and factual ones are even more so... so you'll forgive me if i leave it at that...

well, all i've seen says exactly the opposite or is open to interpretation... so yeah... its all in how you see it, and what you want to see... that is why creationist and evolutionist will never agree on anything, no matter how simple, if not just to ........ the other side off.

Until you back what you say up with, oh, evidence, I'm going to assume you're making crap up. If I said 2+2 != 4 and it's laughable to think so but I won't tell you why, you'd think I was an idiot.

::Gets back up off floor...it's a miracle! I'm cured!::

Being a fan of the late Bill Hicks and his various materials, I would like to ask the opinions of any "Creationists" out there with regard to fossils of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.

Where do they fit into the bible? I have to admit that since leaving 12 years of tortuous Chritian Education I have not bothered reading the bible and I may have forgotten that there's a whole chapter on dinosaurs somewhere in Genesis...

Or, am I to believe the theory (given by Mr. Hicks) that dinosaur remains have been "planted" by the almighty either as a deliberate trick to test our faith, or perhaps as some sort of of divine prank?

edit: in reply to 'no-one' (i think)

given that God exists physically, there are 2 forms of God. the god we know conceptually, and the physical existence of God. the one we know conceptually does exist. hte other is unknown.

the bold is exactly why i posted the incubus quote...

i'm not talking about the bible. i'm talking about God. the bible was written by man; fallible and/or fictional.

ok, and how is that comparable? in the slightest? one is mathmatically provable, one is mathmatically impossible? your point? i need to back up my statments? fair enough, but also fair enough is i just said they were my take on the facts and beign that i dont give a crap enough what you think or want to back them up, because im lazy, and you will see things differently and nothing gets solved... so get over it and stop being such an asshat for the sake of the children.

just because im bored doesnt mean i feel like an arguement of stupid preportions...

besides that it was a statement and not an arguement, why the hell do you try and make eveything i say into an arguement? when it is clearly never meant to be so... its I am sillyI am sillyI am sillyI am sillying retarded?

killed off in the medieval ages, duh, dragons... the fossilization was a fluke of nature and happened in a matter of years...

(for those of you incapable of humor thats a joke)

see then we go into biblical theology and it depends what you are willing to believe, if you believe the bible then God exists in three forms, i.e. "the trinity." Limiting the almighty to a physical form in a universe he created, and also our concept of physicality comes frome him, it is quite illogical to limit him in such a manner...

    >What the hell is this "conceptual God" you're going on about?

pay attention to the conversation, the conceptual God is the one we ourselves have created or the God we see.

edit: our idea of god if you will

now im not saying i believe either, im not really sure, and i;ve only given it limited thought time, but two common takes on biblical dinosaurs, are these

    1. god did not send them to be put on the ark, hence they died, and the fossils are a result of the flood...

    2. the fossils are the result of the great flood, and the majority of remaining dinosaurs were unable to survive in the greatly changed climate of earth after the flood...

actuality... God only knows... ha... doesnt that just ........ some of you off?

on a side point it is important to remember that something to the effect of the entire surface of the earth was altered by the flood is said, i havn't read Genesis in a while so a more exact... whatever is... whatever...

I know why you were doing it, but it's silly to try and pull arguments out of pop songs. Regardless, why do you assume there's some force guiding it when there's no evidence for it? I mean, you've got your "conceptual God", but that's just in your head.

    > i just said they were my take on the facts and beign that i dont give a crap enough what you think or want to back them up,

"It's my opinion, so that means I can say whatever I want as fact and then not have to bother with evidence because it's just my opinion".

    > why the hell do you try and make eveything i say into an arguement?

Because the whole point of this was to be a debate? You can't honestly think that you can make a statement like "evolution lol" in a thread like this and not be questioned on it.

    > if you believe the bible then God exists in three forms, i.e. "the trinity."

That's a matter of interpretation, from what I can gather. I could be wrong, though.

    > Flood garbage

What about the dinosaurs that could survive underwater?

    > ok, and how is that comparable? in the slightest?

In both cases you're denying something that is observably true.

I don't understand why people (not necessarily anybody here) feel the need to prove one way or another whether there is a god. The original question is proper... Do you believe in God?

Since nothing, and I mean nothing, in this world is a certainty, all we can go on are beliefs. The idea that 2 + 2 = 4 is basically just a really strong belief. It is true based on the definitions we create for mathematics, but true reality might have a different definition.

So what it really boils down to is what we believe. Almost all of us believe that 2 + 2 = 4, because while it is not certain, it is extremely likely that our world is roughly what it appears to be.

Now because the question of the existence of God is clearly a question of belief, to me the most important topic to discuss is why we choose to believe one way or another. It is not, "God exists because...", it should be "I believe God exists because...". It is not "God does not exist because...", it should be "I believe God does not exist because...". Maybe that is what people in these debates are implicitly saying, but too often I think that idea gets lost. Obviously few people will ever change their mind on this subject because of a discussion like this, but it would be much more informative and interesting to hear explanations rather than rhetoric.

That's just my thoughts on the subject.

    > Almost all of us believe that 2 + 2 = 4

That's because it's a manmade construct and we've created the definitions for it. It works because that's the way it was made.

2 + 2 could equal 11 if you were working off of a base 3 number system.

I was rased in a religious family. But I like to think things out logically. And the most logical conclusion is that there must be a God. Existance has no other explanation.
