A while ago I had a poll to help choose the name for my server program. I use naming conventions based on Zulu grammar just because it's unique, so I was going to go with a Zulu name. umuZi is a word that refers to the typical Zulu homestead (which went well with a server). Zi is the word for homestead, and umu is the prefix attached to it to make it a regular noun (as opposed to turning it into different types of verbs, advectives, etc...)
It was a toss up between umuZi and Zi. When mimicing Spanish, the common practice is something to the effect of "el noun-o". Well the Zulu equivalent is to simply prefix the word with a u.
Zi.
uZi.
Uzi.
Pretty cool name, eh? Pretty memorable too. So I was just wondering - is Uzi a TradeMark? Does the Isreali Arms company actually own the name Uzi? Or is it just a general term for any 9mm Submachine Gun that happens to have that distinctive shape and high-rate-of-fire characteristics?
I've tried searching it a bit on the web, but I've found evidence to go either way, but nothing definitive.
