We could talk about some of the extreme things members of islam do such as taking the lives of inoccent people or would that be unaeptable?
it would be unacceptable as by their actions, they are no longer following the religion and therefore really have nothing to do with it(the same reason you don't see anyone here ranting about Christians as a group after an abortion clinic bombing).

If that is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Islam or Muslim, you need to take a course in it. Talking about extremist muslims as being the majority is like saying extremist KKK members are the majority of Christians.

To the participants of this thread: thank you, I'll look into a good studying copy.

actually I know quite a few extremist muslims; however, their answer to the amount of "kufrs" in the area is the appropriate one, " we as muslims need to get out and reach the people". I mean, Islam is the most rational and logical religion I know of; I do believe Americans are seeing it too, do to the increase in converts(roughly 2% of the US pop is muslim).

Bush is christian , do you think he represents christians with his stupidity and blood-thurst? ofcourse not.

No one fully represents a religion. Only religion represents it-self.

The New Testament of the Bible was written in ancient greek, I know a few people learning it for that. As well as ancient greek and latin being the two primary root languages that english is derived from.

i dont know if this discussion is over or not, but (based on some research) I would recommend this kind of subject to any one if it deals with the Islamic text itself.

I was reading stuff online and found stuff on how the Quran talks about the big bang and the creation of the universe and how babies are formed and some (many i should say) actual scientific stuff. i dont know about you, but i found this to be quite interesting. since it contrasts Christianity heavily there.

Oh, and something else too, in a site it said that God said humans can do everything (correct me if i'm wrong) except give life and be immortal. Since it said nothing about not being able to time travel, i will consider the possiblility of that

also, in the Quran, it says that there are "other beings" in the heavens and once God wishes, we will meet. Now this made me question my instincts of laughing at the nutcases in the late night shows that talk about aliens.

EDIT: excuse me if i left some of the capitalizations out.

No offense to your religion or anything, but that statement makes no sense. Religion is never logical. Mind you I'm not athiest either. If you ever find anything in this world logical, then you're probably looking at it wrong. Our world is not logical. Physics, the study of the universe, pretty much proves it. Is it logical that time can slow down? Or how about our use of the knowledge physics gives us? So much of it goes into the military. We figure out how to create massive amounts of energy for populations, and what do we do with it? Create a bomb to literally incinerate people. Most of life is actually quite paradoxical. Look at the creation of dynamite for a perfect example.

then why is it that you provide several examples proving that this world is logical?

Or how about our use of the knowledge physics gives us? So much of it goes into the military.
logical, by virtue that a strong military power helps preserve one's kind, one of the common basic desires by all.

Look at the creation of dynamite for a perfect example.
it was illogical for the guy to think that dynamite would not be used in a dangerous matter; it is fairly logical if one views the entire history, that things meant to help people(if they were explosive, sharp, or something dangerous in the right circumstances) would be used to cause bodily harm.

oh, as for finding things logical, how about the following:

    1) Mathematics. Everything is logical here, everything follows rules and works the exact way one expects it to; however, theoretical math could go against this trend, but once it is proven it fits in with regular math.

    2) Science. This too has to be extremely logical: you have to follow the scientific method, you can't say something happened unless you are almost 100% sure it did(and have proof) if you want to last in science.

I would love to learn Chinese, but I'm afraid it would take twice as long for me; I'm somewhat tone-deaf.

don't worry, I have somewhat gotten the tones down from listening to my chinese friends talk in Mandarin, and I have some frequency loss from some of the music I listened to .
